I have 2012 Prius Five with OEM Fog Lights.
I wanted to change the stock bulb with aftermarket LED ones.
I looked at the size and found it to be 5202 and ordered something from ebay. (see attached for the picture of the bulb)

Since I have to lift the car up, I took it to dealership and asked them to replace it during an oil change. Service people at Toyota told me today that, the bulb does not fit. Harness is totally different and also size it too long.

Can someone send me a picture of the OEM stock harness socket so that I can buy the right bulb to replace the stock bulb? And if the size 5202 is wrong please let me know.
    thanks

I found another 5202 bulb. See picture below.
Length size is different but the socket connector is the same.
So probably will not fit. Can someone post a picture of the stock socket for 2012 OEM fog light harness.
    thx

Don't know about the V but the Toyota fog light kits take an H11 bulb.

so stock fog light bulb size is H11?
Sylvania.com lamp replacement website says 5202 as the size.

On Sylvania.com, it looks like 2011 (and most likely 2010 too) was H11 and it looks like 2012 does specify 5202 (aka H16).

I couldn't find much info about them (specifically how the bases compare). But they must be close. Or Sylvania is totally wrong.. although I wouldn't have thought this could be the case.

    As I mentioned above; I asked Toyota Service folks to install the bulb during my 1st oil change they said;
bulb does not fit completely. Wrong socket housing where they would have to spice the wire to make it work and they also mentioned that the bulb was too long for the fog light housing and will not fit in place either.

Can any one on this forum with stock OEM fog light confirm the size of 2012 fog light socket harness to be H16 (5202). Picture would be nice. And why the bulbs I purchased does not fit?
I want to change my stock bulb b/c it does not match my stock LED low beams and just makes the car look ugly when I turn the fog lights on. I'm not sure why Toyota did not offer me HID or LED on my fog lights when they even gave me LED for my Daylight Driving Lights.
    go figure.

    thanks

Replacing your foglight bulbs with LED bulbs will be purely cosmetic. Don't expect to get any usable light output from them.

Sounds counterintuitive, but I would recommend getting yellow H11 bulbs for your foglights. The yellow is the best for bad weather, and they also look good too when paired with HID and LED headlights.

those sockets don't look right to me. it should resemble the stock bulbs. there's 3 little propeller looking things at the base (which by the way, are a PITA to get locked into place).

Yes, I agree that replacing my fog lights with LED bulb is purely cosmetic and adds little to the visibility.
So you are saying that STOCK bulb size is H11 and NOT H16 (5202) as mentioned by sylvania.com website?

Do you have picture of LED low-beam with Yellow fog light bulbs compared with LED low-beam with super white LED fog light bulbs? I had PIAA yellow light bulb on my fog lights on my Lexus IS300 with HID super white and it did look pretty good.

Alright hoping to get some pictures of the yellow vs. white aftermarket bulbs.
    thx

I can confirm.......the 2010 - current Prius uses the same exact fog high housing so the 2012 uses a H11 bulb.

Thanks for the reply everyone. Need to get Sylvania.com corrected.

So now the final question is should I get: (see pictures)
Remember my main reason for replacing the bulb is purely cosmetics to match my super white LED Low-beams
    1. LED bulbs (either 68 SMD or 120 SMD)
    or
    2. Halogen light bulb 55W

Pros of Halogen would be brighter -> Cons would be, it will blow out sooner than LED.

Main question is which one would look the best with my stock LED Prius V - for those of us who have it?

    Sean,
Send over some pics once you install it.
I will need to ask you some other questions about your other installs via separate PM.

FWIW, I have a 28 LED H11 bulb in my fogs and they are crazy bright. They don't project that far but if you're looking at them, they are just as bright as my LED headlights. The color match is close to my headlights too. I think the 128 SMD would be way too bright.

Removing the stock bulbs was quite easy - ~10 mins each side. Just have to remove a clip and 2 bolts on each side from the underside of the bumper. There's a detailed diagram in the owner's manual for reference. However, getting the new bulb to click/rotate into the housing was a PITA!! The bulbs I ordered didn't match perfectly into the housing. It took me a few hours to get them both installed. I had to make little adjustment bend to the base of the bulb to allow them to rotate into the housing. I had to be careful not to bend them too much or else the fit wouldn't be tight enough to lock out moisture. This may not be the case with the bulbs you're looking to purchase. Raising the car would absolutely help with the install since it'll allow easier access to the housing.

I guess its b/c STOCK OEM bulb housing it very tight? I'm guessing I will have the same issue with 68 SMD LED bulbs.
