So, we have been waiting to hear more about final specs and pricing for the 2014 highlander hybrid. We were told they would start production in Dec. The 2014 Highlanders are being made in Indiana. Anyone know if this means we could see them at the dealer by January?Anyone know when the final specs and pricing is released? Im in the midwest.
Trying to hold out and see what the new re style looks like, drives like and costs.

None that I saw, just specs and basic features. Same wheelbase, few inches longer, 100 lbs heavier. Appears to be the same powertrain. Driver tech package includes Safety assist (Onstar), adaptive cruise, pre-collision alert and lane departure warning. Standard blind spot and cross traffic alerts.

Under 30k would be an amazing MSRP for a base highlander hybrid with no extras. Toyota might sell some at that price, though it would be a rarity to see such a large price decrease on an all new model.

The weird thing is that the spec sheet only seems to show the Limited model.

OK, turns out there is no longer a Base Highlander Hybrid model:-( Entry for a hybrid is now almost 50k msrp. Glad I got a base model while they were cheap in early 2011 lol. Under 30k msrp was for the no frills 4-cyl 2WD regular highlander model.

    Booo....popped my bubble. :)

Ya, that makes more sense. But as before, they will sell very few of them.

Yeah when I bought mine, I would have liked a no frills base model hybrid. 4-cylinder ICE, 2WD (like the RXh), cut some weight by losing the power seats, full size spare and such like they did on Prius. They'd have raised fuel economy to 30mpg and lowered the MSRP by thousands. Instead, they went for the performance/luxury segment like Honda did with the failed Accord hybrid. Not sure why they did this when they have the RXh. I'm thinking there must be others like me that want the function of 3 rows in an SUV AND fuel economy at a reasonable price. Maybe not?

The HiHy was like the Accord hybrid of then in that it was a showcase that hybrids could powerful. It was also cheaper to just use the drive train from the RXh. Toyota could offer the HSD from the new Camry now.

I have to admit that I do like the new styling much better on the hybrid model. And I wish Nautical Blue had been offered for the previous generation as well. If Toyota would like to swap mine for a new blue Limited, I'll be happy to tout its praises on PriusChat! Really, with the tech package and standard blind spot and cross traffic warning, they've resolved the biggest omissions for me. If only they could design vehicles to reliably pass the new IIHS small offset crash test...

Pricey! The Limited is already at Cdn$50k so it'll be pretty close to that for 2014 with the Platinum crossing that $50k mark. I guess there isn't a market for the lower end HiHy?? It currently starts at Cdn$43,000 for the 2013 base HiHy with the Comfort Package bringing it to $47k I believe.

Thanks! I could not get the link to work, but I will check toyota page. Pricing is scary. We want the extra room. Hope we can look at one soon. Just to bad they dont have lower priced packages. Thanks for the info!

probably could dump a few hundred pounds by getting rid of the third row seat, and scraping the ugly rack, and spare.

There is now a Pathfinder hybrid for competition. A board member recently got one.

Pricing starts under the HiHy, and may give leverage if negotiating for the Toyota. Assuming you just don't go with the Nissan.

I haven't gone item by item, but the Pathfinder Hybrid 4WD starts at $36.7k to the HiHy's $40.2k. The Path doesn't have nav standard, but it does have Nissan's SKS. Beyond that they look similar at a glance. The Path is rated 25/27 with 4WD. There is a 2WD that gets 28mpg on the highway, and is about $1500 cheaper.
