@JamesBurke, that app looks amazing! the skin is really really nice! Pity it's $30 :( Torque works fine for me so it's not worth it :/

@LIPriusFreak, yea it works pretty accurately, the only thing i cant get it to display is the percentage of fuel left in the thank, but i'm not too fussed by that...

@David Beale, Velcro is SO useful! such a good invention!!

Can you download the actual metrics being tracked?
I would like to be able to download the stats and play around in Microsoft Excel...

The PC version of the app featured in the GenIII thread can log data. I have scanxl that a few years old and it allows logging of some data. I don't have the obd II connector so I can't test it out now.

On another note, perhaps the Lewis Black Edition for the JDM has the PBW or PBS features LIPriusFreak desires.

There's an option to save the logging and then email it to yourself and view it with google maps or something, i haven't really looked at it, i'll check it out tomorrow :)

That's what I was thinking of too! I don't have the manufacturing skill or the time, but let me know if you find or come up with something.

very nice. i would reconsider velcro as well. i did that for my 2006 and when i went to sell it, i had a real hard time getting that sticky stuff off the dash. goo be gone was supposed to work great but results were not good.

I was VERY worried about this, but i removed the velcro today & luckily it all came off with only a VERY small amount of residue.

I didn't use my ZTE tablet + torque app for quite a while, to be honest it got boring as the gauges on the Torque app are not Prius specific & didn't really give me that much meaningful info. Until....

Thanks to usbseawolf2000 and his hugely helpful creation of custom Prius specific gauges for the Torque app.

This thread details them and how to install them
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...-custom-pids-torque-android-app-formulas.html

This means the Torque app is much more useful now! there are so many new features/Prius specific gauges, especially the HV battery SOC in percentage, not the vauge bars on the MFD.

Here are some pics, along with a new mounting of the tablet (still with velcro) :)

Awesome! You can fit 15 small gauges on one screen. I will consider getting a 7" Andriod tablet.

Can some smart engineer please come up with a cheap slideable mount for a 7" or 10.1" android tablet with access to charger too? I am wondering what it would take to make a slide mount for a phone too.. I will most likely get a Samsung Nexus when Verizon finally releases it.

In my Prius, I simply open the door under the radio and my iPad sits right on it perfectly. It even stays in place.

I have to say this is really an interesting thread. I was not that thrilled with the initial Velcro mount, but in post 28, you nailed the positioning thing spot on! It's far enough away that those of us who need glasses can read it!.It is at least in the focal range, well of my eyes anyway, and it looks good. I would only be worried some clown breaks into the car and rips it off! Which means mounting and hiding every time you drive!
Time to figure a quick disconnect!
    +1 Good thread,
    Thanks for the inspiration! :D

How is any tablet able to read valid settings/data from the prius or any car for that matter without having any physical connection with any onboard diagnostics unless I'm missing something?

Lookup OBDII adapter. I bought this one and it works great. http://www.amazon.com/XITECH-BLUETOOTH-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-SCANTOOL/dp/B003MQ89X4

To interface with it, you need an android smartphone or tablet and the Torque app: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en

It's very cool and keeps logs of your trips and lots of information.

Good luck with the GNex EVER being released.

I too have been watching this slow speed train wreck of a release.
