I spent $25K on my Gen III and the documentation came in a flimsy vinyl pouch. My friend spent signficantly less on a Scion and her documentation came in a nice zippered case. Does something similar exist for the Prius? I'd really like to get my hands on one if so.

A Honda Goldwing motorcycle costs about as much as you have spent for your Prius. And, no, you don't get any type of pouch with your owners manual.

Mine came with a nice leather (or leather-like) zippered case, so I think it was up to your dealer. That being said, why does it really matter? I certainly don't take it out to show off and all it does is sit in the glove compartment. I'm not trying to be rude, but I certainly didn't buy the car for its doc case. The technology under the hood is well worth the price paid. I suppose it is all in how you decide to look at it.

I made the same comment to the sales person when I purchased my new Prius. The 05 Prius I traded had a nice zippered leather holder for the manuals and the 2010 V came with a crappy plastic case plastered with the Dealer name. The salesman had a spare zippered binder, but the manuals would not fit, so I thanked him and accepted the plastic case. I guess Toyota is trying to save every penny, but to loyal owners, it seems they are just being cheap...

It matters because I'd like to keep them in the hidden storage compartment in the trunk and I need something that will keep them contained and protect them from everything else I have there.

Can you PM me the name of your dealer and I'll see if they'll sell one to me.

I don't think that it is Toyota but the dealer that provides whatever the manuals come in.

Mine came in a leather case with a magnetic snap to hold the case shut.

My 2007 came with the manuals in a zip lock bag, I commented on this to the sales manager when I bought my 2010 and he said that they buy them for $27. He also said that for the price of the Prius you should get more than a zip lock bag.

I had to agree with him.

You've posted that in three different threads now. What's your point?

My manuals came in a nice fold over porfolio style case with elastic on each end to keep everything snugly contained within. It's not leather but I found it very satisfactory. sgh

I'm confused too. You've made a comment like this throughout several threads tonight.

    So, what is your point?

Sorry, but 25k isn't a lot of money anymore for a car.

    + 1

I spent $33,000 on a Volvo 14 years ago, and only got a cheap vinyl folder for my documents.

On my 2007 Prius, I didn't even get a vinyl folder -- I got one of those cardboard envelopes with the dealer's info on it.

With the exception of my Volvo, I've always gotten those cardboard envelopes.

To me, it's no big deal.

BTW, our friend Robin at PriusHoods just came out with a leather pouch for the 04-09 Prius for $23.99:

Toyota Prius 04-09 Prius Pouch Leather * NEW ITEM *:eBay Motors (item 120455636064 end time Sep-03-09 06:09:49 PDT)

The description says "Dimensions 8.5 x 6 inches & the sides are pleated so it will expand about 5 or so inches when filled."

Are these dimensions suitable for the 2010 Prius documents?

That wasn't the point...the point was that my friend who spent less on her Scion (Toyota) got a usable case.

Actually, I don't even care...I'm just trying to track down a source for something similar to hers that will fit my manuals so I can keep them in the trunk without them getting trashed.

Mine came in a diamond encrusted case made of baby seal leather with a large elephant tusk ivory clasp. It was so nice to open and read the manual while I was enjoying my California condor omelet. Think green.

I didn't even get a flimsy pouch. :( Not even a manilla paper folder. I got nuth'in. Hmmmmm. My dealer owes me. Or its perhaps because I didn't pony up for the $1,000 extended warranty coverage.

My manuals were all in the glove compartment; and I had to check to see they were all there - as other here have reported they didn't get the Nav. manual.

What the salesman did give me was an almost non-working green LED key fob, some touchup paint, and a coupon for one free oil change at 3,500 miles.

Seems that dealers vary widely on documentation presentations.

So did everyone who spent more on a Lexus.

I didn't even get a case myself, so it all depends on the dealer.

Same here. High quality fake leather, elastic sides, everything fits. It just needs a velcro tab to hold the fold over flap down.

Mine came it a nice vinyl case. It was a lot better than the one I got with my $23K 740 Volvo in 1987. A glad Ziploc bag would be of similar quality. The one that came with my 97 Volvo 960 is real nice. It has individual sleeves for each booklet.

But hey how many people pull out their owners manual to show off the case.
