Back seats down, my "default configuration."

Fair warning: this is a really dumb and inconsequential thread.

My hockey bag - It's enormous... 44" x 20" x 20". Perhaps even bigger when bulging with equipment. The only way it gets in the Prius without extraordinary effort is through the hatch after folding the seats down. And even then, you gotta push it in a bit, or the hatch may not close.

Then I thought to myself - My hockey bag is in my car 3 times a week. I have back seat passengers less than ten times a year.

So the answer is easy. I just drive around now with the seats folded down!

It is kinda stupid looking, but on the other hand, I am impressed with the resulting cargo compartment. Fit an 8 foot piece of lumber in the car with the help of the center console the other day. And most importantly, my hockey bag is happy.

There's a modest improvement in visibility too, with the rear headrests out of the way. This is a sufficient reason for me to drive this way.

Well said. I have noticed that rear visibility takes getting used to, what with the odd glass configuration and variance in tint between the two panes. But no headrests can only help.

My default is with the back seats down as well. I use it as my pick'em-up truck more often than I carry passengers. Keeping the seats folded also helps keep them cleaner.

I frequently run one back seat up, one down.

Maybe. I service networking customers in the Mississippi Delta, a small third world nation in the heart of America. About 100 by 50 mile area, in which there is no 'computer store' more advanced than Walmart. If I am not carrying your part, I can't get it sooner than Mail Order can get it here. So I carry a wide variety of computer gear. The Gen 2 was so packed I replaced it with a v, which is much less crowded.

I have heard of the hardworking indigenous peoples of this "Mississippi" you speak of. I wish you good luck in bringing them the infrastructure that us normal people enjoy today.

[that was a dark joke, hoping you take it with a good sense of humor :)]

When I moved to the Delta there was a letter to the editor reminding folks that election campaign signs cannot be posted on the telegraph poles. I thought to my self, "This is why they have no computers, they still think they use the telegraph." Within the last six months I heard my clients discussing hitting a telegraph pole with their car.

India sends its last telegram. Stop - Telegraph

There's something to be said for the simple life though, ain't there...

If only squashing bugs and playing in the mud kept my mind engaged...

My work prius has the back seats down all the time. Tint the windows back there and nobody will notice
