    With the recent gas tax & refinery issues in the state of Cali, along with higher prices - $4/gallon is becoming way more common, and some stations (this one - in the Brentwood area) are even higher than that;

    If you saw lowerer prices as a chance to unload for a land barge ... hope that's still working for you.

    I filled up in late Feb/early March (I forget) on $1.86/gal and still have about 3/4 of tank. :ROFLMAO:

    But CNN promised we'll see $2 gas again because we're friends with Iran again!

    $2 gas will be back after Iran nuclear deal - Jul. 14, 2015

    Iran politics aside, I haven't regretted owning a prius. Well, except I wish I could plug it in, but we'll have to wait to see what Toyota does with the Gen 2 Plug-in Prius. Or I could just get an EV instead I suppose.

    My coworkers sometimes like to poke fun at me for driving one. So whenever gas prices go up, I ask them how much they spent filling up, especially the ones driving luxury cars that use premium gas.

    It was nearly impossible to get in and out of Costco this weekend, everybody in SoCal was waiting in the Costco gas line. One thing I did notice, there weren't many Prius drivers in that super long line

    Seriously it is great.

    But from a personal standpoint it's all relative.

    I don't "dislike" owning my Prius when gas prices are relatively stable and considered low, because I'm still paying less and driving further than most people.

    Conversely, when prices go up? It still hurts, because even though I'm enjoying the gas mileage benefits of a Hybrid, suddenly filling that tank DOES cost more...even if that more is "less" than for most people.

    So anyway I don't complain when gas prices are low, and I don't "gloat" or particularly enjoy it any more when prices rise.

    Prius or otherwise, it's still better when gas prices are low, and worse when they are high.

    I am glad I have a Prius, don't even know what gas prices are nor do I care. My Leaf gets me 99.9% of the places I want to get to mostly for free. Katrina and the Waves needs to do a remix of their classic song to "Driving on Sunshine".

    I am predicting $1/gal in places like fotomoto's back yard by Feb. Hope I am wrong, but he already saw $1.85 last Feb.
    Of course, if you live in CA, buy a Prius. I am wondering if %hybrid sales (now about 30% in CA) could hit 40% next year.

    $1/gal would be $10 to fill up my car to go 400 miles

    If CA ever gets to $1/gal, I would develop a serious case of lead foot syndrome

    On a related note, I wonder if all those people who bought SUV's and trucks recently solely because "gas prices are low!" are going to be having second thoughts soon. At least in California.

    they always do. it's the lead in story to the nightly news, whenever prices go up. i think they run the same video of the overweight lady in the beat up bronco, who says she'll have to decide between food and fuel. the shot it in the first gas crisis in the 70's, and she still has the same truck.

    It depends on what they replaced with the truck. Another truck, and they got a Ford, GM, or Ram(Dodge), their new new truck is using less fuel than their old one. Some engines and trims might be using less fuel than an older large car/minivan/SUV-thing. They might be sorry if they got a Tundra though.

    It's around $1.35 (CAN) per liter up here right now, pretty much a high water mark.

    Any time now I suspect grumpy cabbie will jump in and set us all straight. The UK is probably charging the equivalent of $7 or $8/gallon. No sympathy coming from his way.

    EDIT;
    Wasn't too far off - searching, I found a global price chart. Be very glad you're not in Norway. They make our $4 price look free;
    Gasoline prices around the world, 13-Jul-2015 | GlobalPetrolPrices.com
    Chart shows the average U.S. per liter price @ 79¢

    Except a good chunk of his extra cost is in taxes that are used for public transport and roads (at least I hope that is the case). Taxes in the US are fairly low for a developed country.

    I paid $40 to fill up the Prius and the tank before was $46 (and that was just 32-35 litres, not the full empty tank I usually do in the summer). It's like I'm paying 2000 prices in terms of absolute fuel cost. Can't imagine a normal family car that'll run $80 for regular and do half the distance I do, never mind SUVs that are in the $100 range or entry level luxury cars that are in the $80-$90 range (smaller tank, but premium fuel).
