C2 Bluetooth sync problem, feeling stupid

I just got a Prius C2 and sync'd it with my iphone 4S the day I got it. I often turn my bluetooth off on my phone because thus far this car is the first device I have used bluetooth on the phone with, it can save battery power when not near the car. Well, I had not turned the bluetooth on my phone until after I was driving the prius. So when I turned it on it didn't sync with the car. I tried everything I could think of for getting it sync'd backed up EXCEPT i never attempted to pull over and put it in park. LOL
Now I feel very stupid thinking something was broken when it was that you can't sync the bluetooth when the car is in Drive (at least in my experience). Lesson learned is to make sure my phone is sync'd up with the car before I drive off.
