changing sparkplugs 1.8 engine

    want to change sparkplug, took connector of sparkunit and took bolt M6 out, lifted sparkunit but not enough clearence to remove the unit in order to use wrench for unscrewing sparkplug. Anybody can give me advice how it works?

    Thank you, never realized this was the solution, will try it tomorrow. Engine done 96.000 km now and regarding manual plugs should be changed.

    I had a similar issue with previous civic hybrid: to replace sparkplugs (or adjust the valves) the bottom of windshield cowl had to be removed. Then there was a wiring harness running across the top of the valve cover, with no easy disconnects: you just unclipped what you could and wrestled it out of the way.

    Car's are getting less friendly: just changing headlight bulbs can get pretty involved on some. Compactness and aerodynamics are factors.

    There is plenty of room for access once the cowl is removed. Cowl removal is easy.

    Yeah, everything's easy enough, especially the second time around, when you're more familiar with it. I'm just grumbling: used to be: open hood, pull off cable, remove plug.

    finally replaced plugs, is not difficult, be sure you have the right tool to remove sparkplug, it is 14 mm!

    According packing sparkplug: first hand tight, then with tool 180 degree more tight ..... First little scaring but then it gave the right and tight feeling

    Torque and tightening angle for Denso Plugs:

    DENSO SPARK PLUGS

    I don't see a specific listing for the SC20HR11 above, nor could I find a torque specification in either the service or owner's manual. It is probably an M14 thread size with a 20 to 30 nm torque and a 1/2 turn tightening angle as stated by Cees above. If you have a SC20HR11 plug, you can simply measure the thread diameter with a metric ruler or caliper.

    Kinda weird, the Repair Manual doesn't seem to say anything. Looked through my most recent Honda Shop manual (paper manual for an '06 Civic Hybrid), and it says:
