    Hello all,

Just finished the installation of a CNG fuel system to my Chevy Optra (Sold in the U.S. as the Suzuki Forenza).

The Optra in South Asia (Thailand, India, etc.) comes with a 1.6L 104 hp engine that is compatible with the Bendini 3rd generation CNG kit, which GM just began endorsing, and selling, as it's own.

Installed officially at a dealer and backed by an 18 month warranty, the kit does a good job reducing fuel costs, which are near $5 a gallon for petrol and $4 a gallon for diesel. CNG is around 60% cheaper to purchase and has 80% fewer emissions than gas.

Major disadvantages so far are the limited range given the limitations of storage at high pressure, loss of power (around 20% +/-) and loss of trunk space. But in the crowded Bombay city traffic, it should pay for it's in a couple years ($1200 installed). So far, the family's smiling.

Just thought I'd let you guys know before I head back to Chicago.
