Dealer quoted me $1500 to replace a 2006 Prius Nav system due to a major internal failure. Currently system has no voice responce and inability to zoom on milage scale. An updated DVD is available for this unit but have been advised by Dealer that the new updated DVD would not help or solve this problem. Also Nav worked fine until Hybrid Battery was replaced 2000 miles ago. Any comments PLEASE.

If the problem is bad enough for you to take action, you might consider buying a used unit from a salvage yard.

A more economical alternative would be just to purchase an aftermarket unit that suction-cups to your windshield.

Patrick, Thanks for the Ideas. I'm not up on the Radio, Disk, and Nav units, are they separate

units, so the only unit I would need to buy and replace is the DVD drive under the front seat? or do I need the entire Audio system including the Nav.

    Hi Michael,

I believe that you would need to replace the navigation box (which includes the drive) under the driver's seat.

I seem to remember there is a reset button on the nav unit under the seat. From memory it is accessed through a small hole in the case. Do a search on navigation reset and see what comes up. Can't do any harm and just might work.
