Mitt Romney: Humans contribute to global warming - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Romney reportedly said Friday that he believed the United States as well as foreign nations need to "reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases," saying they "may be significant contributors" to climate change.

As Reuters notes, one of 2012 GOP Romney's rivals, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, said last week that the push to address climate change is "the newest excuse to take control of lives" by "left-wing intellectuals." Gingrich had previously suggested that "our country must take action on climate change."

Gingrich is not the only Republican presidential contender to shift on climate change issues. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said in 2007 that "it's time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse gas pollution," but he now says it isn't the time to address the issue. And former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has backed off his previous support for cap-and-trade energy legislation, saying he had been wrong in once calling for a cap on carbon emissions.

--- So one guy hedges, and all the rest backpedal to tea-bagger stupidity.

So Mitt Romney is a new world puppet too. Nothing new here. The only real one there is Ron Paul, and he is the only one who has a record to backup that is for freedom and for the people.

If not Ron Paul then who, Herman Cain who worked for the federal reserve?
you people are funny.. That's why we get only presidents that are controlled from back stage.

Last run Obama and McCain, both puppets. Does not matter who wins because the Globalization goes on. Only fulls still believe anymore in Republicans and Democrats, because in the senate and the house they do not care about that.

So if you wanna know who they are don't even bother to liesten a word from what they say; check their VOTING RECORD.
Also don't bother to liesten to FOX or CNN or MSNBC, because it's all brainwashing.

Sorry, but globalization is going to go on regardless of what the US or any US President of Congress does. In short, you either get on the bus or you are off the bus.

Two facts beyond dispute isolationist trade/economics will leave the US out. The second, and I know it drives folks nuts to consider, but there is no such thing as "American Exceptionalism". We are indeed citizens of the world, and the sooner those that don't like it, begin to understand that, the better off we will be.

What Americans have historically done well is innovate. Now days, business is so short sighted that it is more concerned about the next quarters bottom lines effect on the stock price, it doesn't invest in innovation.

At every level of government we are cutting back on education funding under the guise of "we are broke", or we need to "cut the deficit". Neither is really true. We have just chosen that we don't want to pay for anything anymore, be it cheap clothes or cheap TVs, or investment in our own future. I call it the Wallmartization of the country.

How many out there will buy something on line, or at a discount big box store to save 5% rather than buy from a local merchant? How many of those are also "republicans"? How many complain about lack of jobs, or being able to by "American" and yet go for the cheapest price.

The only real hope for the country is to realize where are strengths lie, and make better choices to encourage a true healthy economy. Back to the OP, by not investing in the environment, alternative energy, reducing our dependence on carbon fuel, (which will foster innovation) we will continue to spend more and increasingly more on energy (at the expense of other things) and indeed we will spend more on most everything, not to mention what we will have to spend on infrastructure to contend with the changes that will come with climate change. I noted the other day, the the current ANNUAL increase in food costs, worldwide is estimated by reputable economists to be in the neighborhood of ~$6 Billion, each year! And we are worried about a few cents for a carbon tax to begin to bend the curve? Or we are worried about a few billion invested in solar? Or we are cutting education at all levels, at the expense of future engineers, scientists,,innovators. It just doesn't make sense.

If globalization would be intended to benefit me and you would be no problem, but the globalization is intended for few to control many.

You also have to understand that with globalization, you lose your freedom, which is give to you by the US constitution.
Is weird for me an emigrant ( I've come here 12 years ago) to care more about this country than you people do.

Do you people understand that this country is the only real, free country in all human history? In Europe there is no country to have a constitution like US to protect people and freedom like this constitution does, but people here do not care, and soon this constitution will be gone ...

Amen brother. There are so many in this country that take it and its history, its roots for granted and really don't give a sh*%. They demean it publicly every chance they get... for what reason completely eludes me. It is cancer from within that is weakening it. Slowly.

You take my post as demeaning, and indeed it is not. It is meant to be encouraging. A society ( or person) who can't take criticism is doomed. If you can't see that, I'm sorry.

Mig, you might consider looking at the manufacturing label on everything you own. Free trade/globalization does indeed benefit the rich to a great degree, and to some extent that is a result of public policy. The flip side is that you (and all the rest of us) can buy stuff, dirt cheap. We lament the off shoring of jobs, but we don't support on shore manufacturing, either publicly or privately.

Say what you wish, but the flight of manufacturing has followed cheap labor, encouraged by demonizing unions, unions that helped create a viable middle class, and a viable manufacturing base. Be careful which side of globalization one cares to criticize.
