I've got a little project planned for the weekend, I plan to dynamat the doors. Depending on how this goes, I may add more later to other parts of the car. I've read several threads/post on this. I'm looking for a little confirmation before I get started.

To do the the doors, I need to remove the interior door panels and put a layer of dynamat on the inside of the outer door skin? Do I need to put any (is there any benefit) to putting any on the door door frame where the interior panels attach?

Any gotcha's I should be aware of?

take pictures of the process. I'm itching to see the fastener removal and reinstall closeups.

It's documented here - just do a search...

I threw Dynamat at the car, and really, sonically it wasn't a big change. But it was a huge change when you close the doors, or tap on the skin - gives it more of a Lexus 'feel/sound'.

I also put it all over the rear side panels, trunk, under rear seats etc.

Be sure to wear gloves - the stuff is razor sharp, and always 'bites' me when installing...

Did you get a roller for the application?

There's really no need for a roller - and in most of the nooks and crannies, there'd be no way to get it in there...

    +1
I used Dynamat Extreme on my doors, definitely no need for a roller for that stuff. Some of the cheaper less sticky stuff would benefit from a roller.

I got sidetracked yesterday and only had time to do one door - the passenger side. Took about an hour to do from start to finish and I'm quite confident the other doors can be done in 30-40min each after getting the first one done. It does take 2 "sheets" per door. I found it easier to make paper patterns for above and below the door bar. I had the roller so I used it and it did make things a little easier but there's not a lot of room to get your arm and roller in there let alone roll. I don't think it was necessarily needed, but it was nice to have and it did smooth some of the places out especially the ends where the sharp metal edge was exposed.

All in all it was an easy job if you take your time and don't rush. There's enough room to work you just need to be patient when sliding the unbacked dynamat sections into the door frame. I'll grab some more sheets for the back doors (to make sure I leave my OCD in check) and I'll finish the doors next weekend or maybe after work one day.
