You are correct! And, without trying to hard, you should be able to squeeze out more than 11 miles/charge (it isn't that hard). You'll be doing even better!

 

And if a $4 Gallon of Gas can get you 44 miles, it will only cost you .84 to .92 cents using 4 charges. Go PIP !!!

About right, though you should include your taxes and the appropriate share of the fixed costs from your bill. My raw off-peak rate is .049/kWh, but with share of infrastructure costs and taxes its more like .06. Still a significant savings.

 

man you guys are lucky, here on PG&E right now the top tier is $0.33940/kwh. assuming 250wh per mile, that means the cost of operation is 8.485 cents/mile on electric. at 50MPG electric does not become cheaper than gas until gas is $4.25 per gallon. which it kind of is right now around here, but not by too much.

 

If I was not already motivated to conserve or place PV, a marginal use rate that cost 34 cents a kwh would push me over.

 

You are mixing dollars and cents. It is 0.02 dollars, which is 2 cents, not 0.02 cents.

 

Let me pick a few nits. You're ALMOST getting that right. There is a certain amount of loss. You don't get all of the kW's that you're paying for into the battery. That's the nature of charging. And the older and older your traction pack gets, the higher and higher your loss becomes. Same with colder and colder temps. But if you charge at 240v in stead of 120v - the loss will be less, because 240v charging is more efficient.
