DCH Toyota in Torrance, CA made me an offer I couldn't refuse..... they bought my used 2012 Prius 5 fully loaded with 27,000 miles, some exterior body damage (my car payment was $550/month, balance was about $25k)

....and got me into a 2013 plug in base, 36 months, 60,000 total mileage allowance at $445/month - $0 out of pocket. $1500 cash from the State and carpool tags.

driving on the 405 freeway at 5:00 pm in the carpool lane OR 110 Freeway in HOV lane is now a cathartic experience for me

So this is 49 MPG lifetime as calculated by the trip computer because you have never reset the trip A counter and you bought this PiP new. Do I have this right? How many miles do you have on or PiP now? Do you track or gas purchases for an actual MPG calculation? Would be interesting to know what the difference between PiP MPG value and gas pump/odometer MPG value for the range of miles you have traveled. This is the extreme of data collection John's Stuff - Toyota Prius Personal Data 30

I've seen some of the electricity bills from CA, and I'd bet it doesn't matter if you use gas or electricity. You'll pay either way.

    What's your lifetime EV ratio?

If it is 1%, you are doing pretty good at 49 MPG. LOL

Realizing I have yet to fully exploit all the bells
and whistles available on the dashboard. Hands free Bluetooth and Sirius XM and gas gauge is all
    I use.

On the steering wheel, hit the Trip button. It'll rotate through about 5 different screens. You want to look at the EV Driving Ratio screen.

On mine it is the DISPlay button that does that.....and several may be hidden, depending on how the options are set.

Put in a full tank of gas this morning and reset my Trip A gauge to ZERO miles. I've already put on 41 miles of freeway and surface streets and NOW shows 53 MPG. Needless to say, I am pleased.

They are both rescue and were both called generically 'Chihuaha mix'. Casey on the left, best we can tell over the years has some Papillon and toy fox terrier too. No telling on little fluffy white Sasha on the right.;) 10lbs and 9lbs respectively.

At your next fillup, calculate the mileage by hand.
My "actual" came out 2-3 MPG less than the onboard computer said.

I don't want this to sound critical because I'm just genuinely curious. How is it possible to get only 48 MPG in a PiP even if you're only charging it once in awhile? The worst mileage I ever got in my PiP was a road trip to Colorado where one tank was 48 MPG after driving over the Rocky Mountains at 80 MPH. Even driving across Utah and Nevada at 80 MPH I was getting somewhere around 55 MPG, and all that is with zero charging.

I drove over 1,000 miles to Canada and back with 3-4 charges and got 60 MPG.

Refilled again last night and reset Trip A. gauge. Have since logged 104 miles (highway & surface street), with NO EV charge or use and my Trip A. gauge shows 53 MPG. And this in the rain with older tires. I am a believer.
