    I have a 2012 Prius. My dilemma:

I have a honda cr85 I would like to carry with the prius since there is no reason to switch to a truck for such a small bike. The weight of the bike is 145 dry and pushing probably around 175 wet/curb weight. The problem is that the tongue weights maximum capacity is at 200lbs. To me it may be stretch since im pushing it closer to that 200lb mark....and factoring road conditions and speed I wouldn't know my chances.

I am open to suggestions if anyone has ideas (roof rack as well? but that is listed at 200lb max capacity)

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    ~W

Small trailer = minimal tongue weight.

    SCH-I535

    Maybe something like this?

I haven't looked but is a class II hitch available for the Prius? That's what I have on my CMax and it's rating is more than enough to carry the CR on a carrier.

I am considering shopping for an electric bicycle, thinking that one of them should carry just fine on a heavy duty bike mount or even inside the car maybe.

I would prefer a hitch carrier since I would be able to go faster than 55mph

Plus a hitch carrier would be a cheaper alternative
