HOW TO DIY: JDM Folding Mirrors with Signals

Hey all,
Anyone complete the install with the newer lighted switch and folding relay/harness for the 2012+?
First thing is the new harness doesn't have the first/last wires in place for the switch to light up!
Secondly, the folding part doesn't seem to work at all. I'm a bit stumped, as I think I have it all wired up.
The puddle lights, parking and turn signals all work great. If I manually power the motors, they turn just fine also.
Not sure if it's a defective power mirror relay.

 

Cathy from topsage asked me about my 2012 prius if is facelift or after facelift. I emailed her back and asked to elaborate? Any Ideas? Which one did you guys ordered for the auto folding mirrors for 2012?

 

I believe she means before "MC" and after "MC" like www.autostyle-usa.com states on there Prius/zvw30 front lips. I'm assuming and someone correct me if I'm wrong but "MC" stands for mild change? Before "MC" or as you said she stated preface lift would be 2011 and before and after facelift/after MC would be 2012 and up as they had a slight chance to the front end.

Just an update on my install of the folding mirrors. I ordered the newer style illuminated 2012+ folding switch with the new harness.
I had some really odd behavior and thought it might have been my wiring. Turns out, it was the harness! The ACC and ground were switched and fortunately, nothing bad happened, except just it never worked.

Top Sage has since updated their wiring harness and diagram! (See pic below)

I'm still having an issue though! The new style harness comes with both lock trigger wire and unlock trigger wire. (Assuming the unlock was optional)
The first time it locked via keyless entry, it folded and everything was great. Started the car/ACC and it unfolded.
But after the first time, the keyless doesn't trigger the fold anymore... (?) Mirrors still fold manually with the switch just fine.

It seems like the unlock trigger needs to be added, but I'm not sure. Anyone know where this unlock trigger wire is at?

 

Hmmm. I think this would be my problem when mine arrives in the mail next week.

 

just search ebay with this it is cheap and does the job "Amber Soft 9smd Led For Car Side Mirror Turn Signal Indicator Light MA299"

 

Cathy actually didn't replace any of the parts. At least not yet. I ended up splicing the reverse tilt harness with the correct wires.
The relay still does work, just not consistently. I'll try the wire with the black strip, see what happens.

 

Don't bring me in to this....... LOL !!

 

Just received mine today and will be installing in a day or 2. Will let you know.

 

Noticed on the harness has 3 wires to be wired but on the instruction it was only 2.
Here's the module. I guess its different for 2012+.

 

Thats right there is a central unlock and lock.

 

Hi Sean. I would like to ask your expertise. Which wires(from the harness) should i tap the green and blue wires thats coming from the autofolding mirrors? Thanks for your help in advance. Im not sure but i think on the green and blue wire after that 1st black wire.

 

Yes, that is correct. Look at the updated harness break out picture they sent me.


Also, your relay is very different from the one I got. That looks solid, with aluminum casing.

Good news is that they are sending me the updated harness and relay, as it is not functioning properly.
