I need to remove the lower center panel, the one where your US cars have the 12v outlet.

Can anyone tell me how it is secured? I want to remove to drill and fit two 12v outlets as our Uk spec cars don't have any here, only in the console.

Because I have a large leg frame fitted at the moment, movement is difficult so knowing what I need beforehand will make life a lot easier!

This is the frame, fixing a break and growing the femur to recover lost bone, 3mths in with 2 to go. Then I can drive again! But for now, little projects like this keep boredom at bay!

    Excellent, Thanks :)

Ahh, no sadly, that applies to the 2010 model (GENII). I have a GENII hence the post here in the GENII sub-forum, thanks anyway.

I thought this might be a common issue, removal of that panel but maybe not?

Wow thanks, that second link is exactly what I was after and I'd searched high and low. Got loads of bookmarked links to the hobbit site as well!

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to assist here. I'll whip the panel off tomorrow and mark it up for the 2 x 12v outlets I want to fit.

    Cheers

All done (well the physical installation anyway!). I won't be able to wire the outlets up until I'm out of the frame.

Thanks for the heads-up on removal, was very easy. I had hoped I might find a pre-wired plug hiding behind the panel for the non-existant 12v outlet but that was a hope too far.

So I'll run a feed from the fusebox when I'm more mobile in Jan.

    DarrenG,

I'm glad that I could help... after that initial "Gotcha!"

Many of the good folks here have helped me with my moding.
Sometimes it takes getting just that one little piece of missing
information to get a project started, or finished up.

    Best wishes.
