Does anyone know if I can set the V to unlock all the doors when I unlock the driver or passenger door? I see that setting on the manual on page 524:

But it looks like on the Display Audio system, it cannot be set.

Can the dealer set it instead?

Since I almost always have kids with me, I always want to unlock all the doors so they can get in the car. The way it's set now, I would have to either get the key FOB out of my pocket or open the door and press the unlock switch. Not the end of the world, but still a pain.

Also if I am opening the rear hatch, I want to be able to let the kids get in the car while I load stuff in the back. Again I could use the key FOB, but on my Gen II Prius, I got used to being able to unlock all the doors in one step.

Not sure if the V is the same as the Hatchback, but if you press the Lock and Unlock Buttons, at the same time, on your Remote Control for 5 seconds, it will toggle through the various door unlocking and locking modes. There should be a small reference to this in the Owners Manual.

    smokiejoe,

Thanks for the tip. I searched through the manual and could not find any mention of this.

But following your directions worked perfectly.

    Thanks!!

Trying this today as well. On my touring and tech the SKS will unlock all doors only with activation of the passenger and 5th door at the moment using the drivers handle only unlocks the drivers door.

I did have to get the dealer to turn on the loud beep when I locked or unlocked the doors. My neighbors are much happier now when I come and go late at night....

    Hey, eroeder,

Just curious about your comment that you had the dealer "turn ON the loud beep" for lock/unlock confirmation. Didn't you really mean turn "OFF" the loud beep to appease your neighbors, or did the old confirmation setting use the car's noisy horn instead of a quieter beep? Just curious because I really don't know much about the Gen3 cars yet.

There is a way to use the touch screen to select user options, but they don't make it easy understand. You need to read from both User and Nav manuals to get instructions and options available.

From page 124 of the Nav. System owner's manual:
    Vehicle customization
    Step1 press setup
    Step2 touch Vehicle
    Step3 touch Vehicle customization
Step4 touch the desired items to be set
    - For a list of the setting that can be changed, refer to Owner's manual.
Step5 After changing the settings, touch "save". ...

And here is a link to that section of the Owner's manual. Note the three rightmost narrow columns. Read first page of link to see how the columns show what settings can only be done by the dealer (or ScanGuage if you play with the on-board diagnostics (OBD) toys). Look on page 525 of owner's manual for all the Door Lock vehicle settings you can change.

Yes, I know about all those settings, but none of them address the issues we are talking about in terms of unlocking all the doors.

Note: The following procedure is for the US configured Prius v 5s with Adv. Tech. Package.

User manual page 525, last Function under Item Door lock reads "opening driver's door unlocks all doors," default is off, can be changed if you have a navigation system, or by dealer.

So if you have a Display Audio system without premium HDD navigation , I would try the procedure with the key fob procedure posted above.

I made a photo album of using the Nav screen to set the Auto Unlock by Driver Door. The pictures are in reverse order, so start with the last one and click previous.

I forgot that you might be referring to the AT package. I do not have that, so I don't have all those options.

    Sorry about that.

I have a V5 so have nav..but it appears the manual refers to this as the "display Audio" system..vs the Navigation system included with the AT group. I had to use the keyfob method to switch the settings as there was no such option available on screen.

I learned something new today. Prius v's without Adv. Tech. Package do not get a setup button to get to selectable vehicle options. I don't know why they would save those functions for the $5k option package. Oh yeah, marketing would do that.

Thank you all for helping educate me. Prius Chat users always get to the truth.

Thanks so much. The key fob method worked perfectly on my baseline model Prius PHV.

The default setting is a security feature. A single unlock on the fob opens the driver door only to not allow entry to any other door. A second push on the fob unlock will open all doors.
This seems to me to be a good default. It only takes one more button push to unlock all...surely that isn't much of an inconvenience.
