Kudos to the Millers for allowing those in need to glean their fields. Kudos to the Weld County sheriff's deputies who helped direct traffic. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the armpits of the Colorado State Patrol officers who had nothing better to do than issue citations for cars illegally parked on the side of the road. Apparently Colorado is a crimeless Utopia where there are no drunk drivers or speeders endangering those traveling the freeways. I only hope a reality-based judge overturns all of the citations.
Gleaning has been a practice in California for decades. It was finally addressed nationally here: "Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Law" (HR2428). Naturally, safety laws are not to be overlooked.
