People used to joke and say my Prius was a girl car. Well this "girl car" performed like a superhero and saved my life Tuesday. This is what happens when you go 55 mph into the side of a flat bed tractor trailer. I just had minor cuts (from the glass) and a backache (which feels fine now). Just wanted to show this to fellow Prius owners. Don't have the official word that it's totalled yet but i'm sure it's a technicality. Also, thank God for Toyota Finance Gap Insurance.

Glad to hear you're OK. How did it happen? Did you have time to duck?

Wow!! Glad you made it out OK with minor injuries. People can say what they want about the Prius, but it's gotten great, overall, reviews for its safety construction.

Happened 540am (pitch black) on a 2 lane road, I go over a blind hill/curve, and i'm blinded by tractor trailer bright lights. Next thing you know i hit the trailer, never saw it. The driver was backing into a business saw and trailer was perpendicular to his cab across the road. No flagger, nothing. The main damage was done by the jack stand of the trailer. It went all the way up to the dash. Trooper said it was a good thing i hit that stand cause if not I would have gone completely under the trailer decapitated me and the car at the same time.

Glad you are okay. This is by far the worst looking wreck posted here on PC!
Looks like the side curtain airbags deployed. Did the front, knee, or the side torso bags deploy? This is one weird hit for the bags to try to protect you.

Wow! Glad you are OK after that. Give your back a couple more days before you tell anyone it is fine. Sometimes they come and go and then come back a couple days later.

Seems like a strange accident, hopefully the semi company is ruled at fault.

Glad you are OK and the Prius helped protect you. You are mighty fortunate to have hit the jack stand rather than go under the trailer as the officer said.

Wow. No car is built to take a hit of that sort. Great to hear no bad injuries sustained... hope back stays OK. Totally agree with Lester William's post... go buy a lottery ticked... you have incredible luck!

Does show how fast things can go bad while driving, especially during the nighttime hours.

Glad your are OK. I hope you didn't do much mods on it or it would be very sad to see all that hard effort and money put into the car, go to to waste.

Are you going to buy another Prius? :)

Glad i have the title for the worst wreck. Thank God I was able to tell the story. As for your question, the front and knee airbags deployed along with both side curtain air bags.

Let me rephrase it: worst wreck in which the driver lived to tell us about it on PC. I am sure there were worse ones but the driver did not have the opportunity to tell.:(
You did well. So did your car. Makes me feel better now. We have some crazy some beaches out here.

Glad to see you're okay, meaning the car did its job to protect you in the unlikely event of a crash. A car is easily replaceable, but a life isn't.

Bejaysus, Jeffery! And it's glad I am that you are hale, hearty, and here to tell about it!
(I didn't even know we HAD all those airbags!)
I did see one You Tube video from the UK of a wrecked Prius where this guy's friend had slammed into a lorry at 55 and was injured enough to go to the hospital but did survive and recover. The Prius looked very much like yours. You might consider selling yours back to TMC for use in advertisements, as I think that is a heckuva ad for the safety of a Prius!
