You know, I told my Dad to not touch my 2007 Prius before fully researching changing the brake fluid. I was going to do it myself but he could not wait!
He went to bleed the rear brakes, and the abs system locked out the wheel he was bleeding...
The manual I have says to use the scan tool, all the web pages I viewed said to use a scan tool to reset the code... He read it and thought he knew better!!!!
MY FAULT FOR LETTING HIM TOUCH MY CAR!
SO my question is this... Which scan tool do I need to do a proper brake job on the Prius? Will any code reader do or do I need the fancy one with the extended features that plugs into the laptop?

OTOH, yes. The proper way is w/Toyota Techstream, which is software that runs on a Windows laptop w/a special OBD2 cable.

How about the Auto Ingenuity with Toyota addon?

I believe the Mini VCI cable of Ebay comes with the Toyota software that allows you to do this. The VCI is a Chinese cloned Mongoose cable and the software pirated Techstream.

There's a thread on here from a guy who figured out how to do it with a paperclip in the ODBII port... Basically you need to get the car in a state where the electronics controlling the brake system are disable so you can bleed the brakes normally. I'll do some digging and see if I can find that link....

If he broke it, he pays to fix it. :)

A learning curve for all involved.

Might want to give Luscious Garage in San Francisco a call, they should be able to get you back on the road for a reasonable price.
