My MXM4's ride smoother than the stock 15's and the overall steering "feel" is greatly improved

Just remember what I said about them not being the best for mpg. They seem to be a great compromise between ultimate performance and ultimate mpg. They are probably the ultimate in safety though. :)

That's the tire that came on my car & I trust Justin's words of wisdom as well as the brand Michelin.

Can't go wrong with the Michelins. I put my MXM4's on in April 2011 and they have performed flawlessly. Awesome wet/dry weather grip and ride. I just checked the tread depth today......they have around 5 to 6/32nd's left. I have 29,000 miles on them in the 13 months they have been on the car. New they come with 10/32nd's of tread depth so I have around 50% remaining. I have mostly freeway miles but when I'm in town I drive the car pretty hard. I have a lead foot and I corner pretty agressively. Tire wear is very even and I rotate every 10K. I definately will buy then again.

Speed is also a killer of tire tread. The faster you go, even in a straight line, the faster the tread wears out. So I'd say you're doing pretty good. :)

Good suggestion. Unless I can acquire OE Bridgestone Turanza EL400 off someone's hands, I'll probably consider the EP422 or the Primacys depending on whether the EP422 has the raised rim protector and/or is as good looking as the Primacys. I have 6/32 left all around on the OE Bridgestones after 45,000 miles, which isn't bad at all. Of course, the off-the-rack Bridgestone counterparts are nothing like that in terms of fuel economy or tread life.

So that's why that rental Prii I was driving in Michigan last summer came home with bald tires :pound: I never found the speed limiter but it sure did run smooth at 100 mph

Quick question, what color would you guys describe the Plus wheels as. I love the color but not the style, would any of you say these are like hyper black?

Hey d2mini, did you by chance weight your stock 17's before you put on the plus 17's? I read that the stock 17's weigh around 25 lbs, just wanted to see if that was what you got.

    Thanks.

One more question, for those that switched from stock 17's to Plus 17's, did you use your existing lugs or get the Plus lugs? I guess I should be asking, can you use the stock lugs with the Plus wheels?

I bought the new lugs. They are better (locking) and match the wheels.

  15. Yeah, you'll need new lugs. Any tire place can give you similar looking lugs/locks though. Only difference is the tiny PLUS logo and quite a bit more $$$ (but I have the PLUS lugs and locks since they came w/ my rims).

Hey d2, Is your car lowered at all? I ask because I'm also a black 2012 five and just ordered the Plus 17's and also the plus ground effects kit. No springs. I'm hoping I don't feel the need to lower at all as I'd rather not. And your stance looks great in your pic. Do you have the kit installed also? And do you have any other angle shots of your car?

Yeh man, I been drooling over your car now for days. You're the reason I also ordered the lower door moldings. I just wanna see how it'll look with all that minus the drop. If no one has a similar setup (kit and wheels minus springs) for me to see then I guess I'll just see them on mine first :D
