Is it okay to drive the Prius Classic without the A/C on in hot weather (85-90 F) battery wise? I figure the battery probably generates more heat due to being used to power the A/C, unless the A/C in the classic is belt driven (ICE only).

I believe A/C is belt driven in the NHW11 Prius.

  3. I would think you can, I mean people in Arizona/Nevada have to start their hybrid even after it's been out in the sun in 110 degree weather... I bet the hybrid system is designed to ensure the battery doesn't overheat and so your engine would be on more of the time even when going really slow or stuck at a traffic light.

No, it does not get quite as hot here. Arizona/Nevada: very hot and dry. NYC: very wet and hot. I imagine the Prius cares more about temperature and less about humidity. Good to know it can run without the A/C. Otherwise, A/C failure would immobilize the vehicle if it happened during the summer!
