Does anybody have any experience with the GF Performance Chip for Prius that have an ad on this site? Of course, I didn't buy a Prius for a spectacular performance :D but who wouldn't like a more responsive engine without compromising the gas mileage (or factory warranty)?!? Also, any experience with any other performance chip? Thanks for your time, guys!...

I had a tuner on my last vehicle (diesel pickup) which was amazing! Much more power and better fuel mileage.

However, I'd bet that the Prius is pretty much "tuned in" for maximum mileage as-is. And the power button does make a difference in throttle response. I'm not so sure I'd want to mess with what I already consider a very developed package.

The picture you've posted is pretty impressive! Wow! How did you manage to get average 53 MPH with average 62.4 MPG??? Do you mind sharing your driving secrets with a newby (driving Prius for a whole 13 days now)?

Snake oil. The ECUs cannot really be reprogrammed by a 2-wire connection through the Intake Air Temperature sensor port, merely fooled about air temperature. From their web site:
"The GF module installs into your TOYOTA PRIUS's engine bay and is connected via 2 wires that plug into the IAT sensor."

...And they still have an ad on as reputable Prius website as this? You would expect it to work if you can find it here... just saying...

Minor note though... Some Ad provision services are done via third party and under the belief that it is 'relevant'. Thing is, in some cases, the ad may not be supported or sponsored by said site unless they are 'selling' it themselves.

The point of advertisement is to encourage the consumer (that being you) to buy from the producer, in some cases, even if you don't need it. All it takes, is that 'one hook' to get you.

That isn't how the online ad business works. The ad packages are handled by a third party, generally not reviewed or vetted by this website.

Perhaps a moderator can give us a decent overview?

From my brief stint with a website, the way it works is this:

Websites, similar to this one, will have what are called 'partner sites' or 'ad provisioning' to help fund the site. Often times, it uses tracking cookies on the user's computer to determine 'relevance' of an ad it should put up. For instance, I frequent this site, some anime sites and have done some browsing around for some car accessories. One of my RSS feeds has ads and lately, I have seen more prius/hybrid ads along with some of the similar content I am looking at. Does this mean Slashdot, for instance, is a reputable Prius/Hybrid promoter? No.

Ad provisioning sites do the following -
Offer potential hits to a clientel site, using a method to provision appropriate ads to other websites.
Pay other websites a small commission for 'air time' or 'per hit' click throughs that the ad might do.

This is the reason why pop-up blockers have become the 'norm'. The cheap, crappy websites would use multi-popups to help generate impressions, usually, it will be a bunch of crappy porn ad provision, but by doing so, it allows that website to make lots of money just by you visiting. Popup blockers started coming into play to counter that a bit, but more for the people who create malware type websites to create active, hidden windows.

Going back to the ad provisioning, they ask sites to put a 'window' on the pages, using that to be the signpost for the ad. From there, they use the tracking cookies to get a rough impression of what content they can show to you that may be appealing, thus hoping to catch your attention. The thing with this process, however, does not allow the webmaster or the host of the website to 'dictate' what content the ad is short of discussing with the ad provider what is considered 'acceptable content'. So Ad providers will not necessarily be restricted from providing ads beyond what is considered 'appropriate' for the target audience.

So technically, the ad provider Priuschat would pick would have content that would focus for 'all ages' but not necessary stuff like porn. Does it mean that PriusChat endorses the products? No, again, the ad provision site is just 'renting' a portion of the webpage space to sell their clients' presence, but it does not mean PriusChat is doing the "When I want x... I go to y."
