Prius C in Israel?

    Can I take one from US to Israel as Toshav Hoser?

    There are a couple of members on here from Israel and have a the LB Gen III so I can't imagine having any problems with the C. What are you worried about?

    Israel only allows particular models and years, which the Israeli dealers certify they can repair and maintain, to be imported. For Toshav Hozer, (returning citizen), the car must be less than four years old and supposedly manufactured in the country the person is emigrating from (US) which the Prius C is not. There are horror stories of people paying to ship a car to Israel, and finding out the car is not allowed. It seems like our just over four year old beautiful Prius can't go, so I'm contemplating trading it in on a new Prius C if it can be imported. There are special rules to encourage hybrids, so I'm grasping for info anywhere I can.

    That is the most heard recommendation - so I'll have to compare the Yaris H, Jazz H, and Prius full size model (if we really do it.)

    When I was there 5 months ago, I saw Gen2 and Gen3 Priuses. I did not see Prius c.

    Thanks - looks like Toyota only does Yaris Hybrid and Prius III for sale in Israel at this point. I was trying to figure out some new hybrid car that could be taken to Israel to minimize the costs. Seems like I will end up buying there.

    My understanding is cars are a lot more expensive over there. You might save a good amount of money buying here and shipping. You might want to check and see what tax brakes they will give you as a Toshav Hoser on either option. It might be cool having one of the only Prius Cs around.

    That is good advice from Avi. I would factor in all expenses, paying sales tax in the USA if applicable and transportation costs, insurance, will they accept the car at the port (meets Gov standards) etc vs buying there. If the savings is negliable say a grand or so it may not be worth the extra hassle and risk. It would also be nice to support the economy of your destination.

    My wife and I would love to visit Israel. One day God willing.

    I'm pretty sure US citizens do not need a visa unless they stay more than 90 days. If that helps.
