    I believe this might be a real good camera for this project.
    Toyota Backup Camera 86790-04010 GP-KD5301RC | eBay
    Its rated for the 6 volt output of the head unit and its the high quality oem.
    Some mount work would be needed to get the proper angle and im not sure how available the plug is.(I plan on just soldering onto the four terminals)
    I picked one up from this seller but I have yet to hook it up to my prius II liftback with the base 6.1" touchscreen.

    the diode is rated for 200V and 1 Amp.

    I bought it at radioshack. :)

    Ok, here is an updated write up. Sorry for all delays. Thanks to Vinny for the diode description. Now after I put my diodes, camera works perfect. I can put it in reverse anytime and the picture will be on the screen. Vinny please check and add if I missed something.

    Great write up :) I like the pololu crimp tool too.

    The connector is 1318386-1 (natural color) change the 1 to a 2 for black the pin is 1123343-1

    I have a homelink compass mirror with a 6.7v camera output. Also got lucky with the first camera I bought that works at that voltage to the same intensity as a 12v input. Waterproof 170ยบ Car Rear View Reverse Backup Parking COMS Color Camera NTSC | eBay Looks to be easy to fish the wire thru a vehicle too.

    I listed the connector because evidently you can update the radio. This guy could have used a connector.
