Saw a Prius hauling a enclosed trailer on Rt 70 in MD yesterday. Gen4 I think.
Told my wife now there's something you've never seen before.

Was the trailer a teardrop or a box? If a box how big would you estimate it to be? I can't imagine anyone pulling a big box behind a prius at 65 or 70 mph on an interstate, but I guess there must be some out there that do. Were there any noticeable stickers or advertising on the trailer or Prius?
I thought about a Curt hitch many years ago, and I've always been interested in how owners use them with their hybrids. Toyota Prius Trailer Hitch | etrailer.com

Brian Baptista had his 2013 Volt pulling an 18ft enclosed trailer with replacement batteries through the mountains.

A full battery + oil cooler and engine on the whole time kept his 65mph + speeds steady through he did need to charge several times.

I could see a prime especially 2024+ towing a pretty big trailer

The other day I had to drive 60 miles, one way, to a scrap yard, where I was buying a 20' long section of 6" schedule 40 steel pipe. Rather than take my 1 ton pickup with it's heavy duty lumber rack (18 MPG MAYBE) I drove the Prius, and towed my light weight single axle utility trailer with it's 10' bed (home built, no decking, just the bare frame), and ran the pipe clear up to the front end of the trailer tongue, leaving the end sticking out about 5', which I flagged of course. I got 38 mpg on the trip, driving high 60 mph.

There are no Hitches at all in production for the 2023 Primes. Believe me I have looked and looked. I have a $900 Kuat Bike rack w 2” receiver that is just sitting in my garage waiting. Although I think if they ever do come out with a hitch, I would switch to a one up rack just because it’s lighter for the Prime, the extra weight of the heavy duty Kuat double bike rack was not an issue on the old Subaru.
