    Yes
Alarm went off and after that fob does not open doors or start car without being inserted into dash.
checked the 'set' button, checked the fob battery.

You know, this really sounds like one of the buttons on your fob is stuck or inoperative. It sounds to me like its the alarm/panic button. If this were happening to me, I would likely take the fob apart and carefully examine all the buttons for the mechanical action of a properly opening and closing switch. If mechanics are ok, I would likely de-solder the alarm switch on the suspect fob and see if it works then.

and if that doesn't work, check the 12 volt.

No two, although we only use one, the 2nd has never been used in 5 years. Found it yesterday and tried it with a new battery and it was the same....dead.

Then how are you going to change the battery if you can't take it apart? These fobs do come apart. I don't have one with me right now but could someone help this gentleman figure out how to take it apart?

Thanks for the reply, I have no problem changing the battery in the fob but cannot dismantle it further than taking the battery cover off. From what I am reading in other posts I will have to take it to the dealership to reprogram.
