So, I have had my new (used) 2006 Prius for about two weeks now and I have noticed that the backlighting for the buttons on the steering wheel is not working. This is my first Prius so any help would be great. Thanks!

Are sure they are out. Initially I thought the same about ours. Turns out they are very dimly lit.

If indeed they are really not lit, then you would need to replace the "clockspring" in the steering wheel, which is the flexible strip carrying the current. It's a bit of a job but doable for DIY types. Perhaps not worth it if just that wire is broken.

Checked after work last night and they are very dimly lit, like me at times. Oh well

The LED back lights can be replaced with brighter LED's, but it is a fine soldering job to do this.
