Toyota announces total Toyota Hybrid sales have hit THREE MILLION!!!

    Mostly yes, because I have to submit mileage reports for work and work pays for mileage, I have incentive to do so.

    so... if total sales is a measure of greatness, let's look at, say, the Ford F150.

    over 10 million sold in north america since 1999.

    What does that say?

    Define "greatness." Maybe "popular with buyers" ?

    Ford pickup trucks have been around since when, the 1930s? (not the Model T, but an actual flatbed pickup truck)
    The Prius hybrid has been around since when, 1998? Three Million in a decade for something brand new, compared to 10 million for something that's been around for ~75 years is very impressive to me.

    That 10M trucks is bad, and 10M Prius is much better.

    Construction workers, farmers, etc definitely need pickup trucks. I agree. But I see far more pickup trucks being driven by people that don't need them.

    Btw, have you seen the Ford Transit Connect? Here in San Diego County, where I work, I see them all the time.
