I got a P0A80 and a bunch of lights today, and not really unexpextedly (capacity has been diminished for a while, and this week it entered a whole new realm of instantly charging & discharging). 124k miles and always in CA so 150k warranty applies.

Just dropped it off at the dealer but they won't officially start diagnosing until Monday a.m. and they said if it is the hybrid bat, they will have to contact Toyota for approval on the warranty job.

What length of time does experience suggest it'll be at the dealer ?

    Thanks in advance!

If the part is in stock, you should be able to get it back in a day. Diagnostic would be simply getting the P0A80 code.

don't let them give you the run around, you should have the car back late monday or early tuesday. the job itself is only a couple hours.

Thanks! They've confirmed I'm getting a warranty hybrid battery, but said it's not in stock (I'm a little surprised -- thought Longo would have as good a parts stock as anyone) so Tuesday pm.

Pretty happy about this turn of events, anyway, as my 10 years would be up in January and since it was clearly a degraded battery for some time, I was figuring it would probably just hang on and then set the code on Feb 1st :)

Most major parts can be had in 24 hours, there's no reason a dealer would need to stock this item and let it degrade while waiting for a customer.

:) Not sure I'm up for THAT much longer (how ridiculous will the cassette player seem in 2024?), but yeah, nice to have the possibility, and the bump in resale value in the other case!

The actual swap is just an hour or two. When it's gonna happen is anyone's guess. Congrats on dodging the bullet!

I'm hoping my 2006 battery will crap out soon, real soon! I have 139k miles on it now. I'm getting anxiety every time I go behind the wheel, I don't want to add miles to it :D

In the end, a trip up Lone Pine Canyon Rd (elevation profile here) followed by a few hours parked in the sun did the trick for me :)

Well, I think they did take their time but they did get it back late Tuesday with the new hybrid battery. We opened a bottle of champagne and toasted to CARB! Also celebrating what I hope is my last stealership service -- I've been shelling out in case I needed to grovel for a just-out-of-warranty goodwill offer.

The writeup has "found battery block number 4 is weak. found battery bloack (sic) number is deform" Out of curiosity, what the heck is the deform bit about?
