It’s time to do an oil change! I wanted to know where do you guys get your Mobil 1 0w-20 synthetic form and how much ?

The cheapest I have seen it in LA is about $7.50.

$6.47 per quart or $23 for five quart jugs at an area Walmart. Prices vary by area.

I keep an eye out for sales and buy it at that store, which is more often than not at Pep Boys.

Walmart seems to have the best price on Mobil1, unless someone has a mega sale.

Well, to answer the less specific question in the title: I use Toyota's 0W20. It's readily availabe, decent price and convenient since I'm picking up the filter and drain plug washer.

Toyota 0W20 is the better product due to its lower viscosity at 40C, which may give you better fuel economy.

I paid $4.99/qt from the dealer when it was on sale.

Costco when they have a $10 off 6/1 qt. coupon. I think it ends up being ~$27 for the box / $4.50 per quart. The coupon is in this February's coupon book.

I used the Toyota 0W20 from the dealer until the dealer went with bulk oil. Now they provide Quaker State in quart bottles. I am not a fan of Quaker State.

The last oil change I went with the WalMart 5 qt. of Mobil1.

We purchase our oil for the Prius from our local Toyota dealer.
When bought by the case, the cost is about 6.00/ Qt.

The XOM made Toyota 0W20 is superior to the Mobil 0W20 for use in the Prius. It's viscosity at 100 degrees C is 8.54 cSt, 40 degree viscosity a very low 37.38 cSt and has a very high Visocity Index of 216 compared to Mobil 1 0W20's 100 KV 0f 8.7 cSt, 40 KV
of 44.8 cST and a relatively low VI of 173 compared to Toyota's
0W20 of a whopping 216. It is one of the very highest VI oils
    available.

What this means is the Toyota 0W20 synthetic oil is about 35 % lighter than M1 0W20 at 0 degrees C ( 32 Degrees F ) and 25 % at room temperature. The Toyota 0W20 oil is designed to be as light as possible at start up temperatures and that makes it's use preferable with all the start/stop operation of the Prius ICE. It's also better ar start up in ICE engines other than the Prius. Start up
is where 80% or more of all engine wear occurs.

In very cold climates, the M1 0W30 has an advantage of having
lower MRV ( Very cold viscosity ) than the Toyota 0W20, but that
    doesn't occur until about -30C ( -22F ).

Overall, the Toyota 0W20 is the best for use in the Prius. ( And for many other engines recommending the use of 5W20 and 0W20 oils
    as well. )

Not that this is an endorsement but this week's Costco store ad had a $3 off coupon for Mobile 1.

No idea what their regular price is.

Mobil 1 synthetic - by the case, on sale at Costco. Mobil 1 (extra capacity) oil filters in bulk at the best price via mail order.

But does any Costco carry 0W20? As of a week ago, my local store still didn't.

The dealers use the cheapest synthetic they can so the brands they use varies depending on bulk prices, most use bulk these days. I have one free oil change left at the dealership and will ask what brand synthetic they use, probably not Mobil 1.

Almost all dealers are using bulk Toyota 0w20 since the cost is substantially lower than any other 0w20 on the market.

I always stock up at Meijer (not available in many states) when they have a 15% off general merchandise coupon.

You have a Gen2. This is a Gen3 thread, OP has a Gen3, and it needs 0W20. The latest Costco coupon book has now arrived in my mail, and pictures the same two items that have normally been available at my local store: 5W30 and 10W30.

So the question remains open: has anybody seen 0W20 at Costco?

No I have not, only 5W30 and 10W30 at Costco here.

I usually end up at Wal Mart or Napa for 0W20. Local Wal Mart doesn't have it in 5 quart jug so it's $6.37 a quart; if you can catch it on sale at Napa it is only $5 a quart.

No but I have seen it at Walmart quite a bit. I have bought it there twice, but I must admit I am afraid to walk around a Walmart too much as someone might take my picture and make me famous in one of those "People of Walmart" emails.
