Message part 1: Mr. Mendel, my 2013 Prius 3 died slowly slowly as if it were running out of gas in the Florida heat on the way home about ten miles out last week. On the way out there had been a warning on the dash: "park in a safe place". I had obeyed, looked under the hood and then continued ten more miles out to a meeting.
Message part 2: On the way home after it sat in the ditch 3 or 4 minutes it cranked right up and took me home but I drove easy with NO air conditioning. I have done two 5-mile test-runs and now the "park safely" and "check engine" signs are gone. A friend's analyzer suggests water pump over-rev. Maybe it is the hybrid water pump ? Autozone OBD says water pump B. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
What's the miles? Judging from failure reports, changing the water pump (I thermostat) every 100K miles is prudent. Likely best to do hybrid pump at same interval, but it is nuts to get to.
Yeah I think I know what's wrong but I can't type that much 919-892-0363 I'm Tom this has been tried right here at my shop by a Russian kid and I can only tell you what happened
Hi there. I saw in your post that you cut the metal to allow for the seats to fold flat. I am doing the same thing with my 2012 Prius V but I can't access the metal on the larger bench seat. I posted pictures in the original thread. Would you happen to know how to access the hinge to cut the metal on that larger bench?? Thanks. https://priuschat.com/threads/rear-seat-modification-to-fold-flat.253244/
This won't stop removal show I don't believe I have some pics of engine and transmission out and separated if ya like I can e mail
Look at Chevy volts easily had for like 5K I've got two and 4 Prius. The Chevies are out pacing the Prius currently both bolts easily had under 60K I cannot find any Prius w under 100K for anywhere near that 5K. It's turned out to be quite something. I've been w Toyoda 47 years good luck .
Thanks. I've read mixed things about them. And I know the battery costs a fortune to replace, but I'll see what's available.
Hello! I am facing the same issue you reported 6 years ago regarding the prius A/C taking literally 45s to respond. Stays lit the auto mode, but nothing else comes on or responds to touch. After 45s it allows me to torn it on, but always at a default temp of 25°c. Did you ever find a solution for this issue? It’s been about 2 years since my ac started doing that and no one knows what the problem is. Thanks!
can you please send me a link to the Gen 5 service manual? My son is about to buy one. Thank you so much.
I'm experiencing almost the exact cooling light, actuator issue currently. What was/is the end of your story? Thanks in advance for your time.
Hi Joele3, I came across your post about replacing the Exhaust Gas Pipe Actuator. Would you mind telling me what symptoms lead you to replacing this piece? Also, it seems like a straight forward procedure with the diagrams and your thread now discovered. TIA for your time and insight.
