The OP is the stock attachment system and post #78 is the factory fix.

PT347-47101 is the correct part number for the updated cargo net needed for the 2010 Prius. This part contains, the cargo net with loops on the top fastening points and hardware. All you do is remove one bolt on each side of the hatch opening and install a hook on the bolt; tighten down. No drilling required, just a screw driver! If you received anything other than this, the part was mislabled or prehaps the part number label was removed. In any case, return this to the source for replacement!

    Thanks Radiocycle for clarifying that.

Just thought I would post a quick, easy, CHEAP fix, since the dealer wanted to charge me $22 for the "new" hooks...

These are actually wall hooks that I bought for $2.57 at Wal-Mart (in the picture hanging/hardware dept.), just some slight bending with a pair of needle nose pliers, and that was it! Works great, and looks almost exactly like the "new style" hooks from Toyota. And it does not interfere with the trunk cover at all!
I posted a picture of the packaging, but I forgot to take the picture before I took the hooks out...

I just installed the cargo net into my new Prius III. I was very careful not to over torque the screws, but now the right side screw seems to be stripped as I can turn the screwdriver forever without it getting any tighter. It is tight enough to hold the net, but long term I think I should fix it. Do these screws thread into a part that can be replaced? I don't really want to unscrew it again (risking cross-threading it again) to check.

There is an alternative to the current Gen III cargo net hardware and blocking the entrance to the cargo area issues. Hang the cargo net off the back of the rear seat where it is not in the way. I used the unused cargo net from my 2007 Camry. Snap the top loops of the net into the seat belt guides on the top of the back seat. Use small D-rings to connect the bottom loops of the cargo net to the cargo tie-down rings on the cargo floor. Works like charm, is out of the way and actually looks cool. You do have to disconnect the top loops from the back seat before folding the seat.

Below are pictures of my cargo net empty and with items:

I just grabbed my wife's RAV4 cargo net and that looks like an awesome solution! This way you can keep any balls that may want to roll around up against the back of the seat as well which will minimize noise from rolling too.
I am dissapointed in Toyota for not having a removable small panel with appropriate hooks for the net available rather then requiring removing parts etc.

Did you have to remove the screws to stick the hooks in? Or you bent around the screws?

Fantastic solution! I had tossed my old 2nd gen cargo net aside when I could not come up with a good way to mount it. I recently found it and was going to try one of the other solutions when I saw this! A couple of quick loops run through the belt guides and voila! I can even leave it in with the argo cover in place. And it is always there but out of the way. Thanks!
