Oh I mean how you can tell it to play a particular track using that voice control on the 3GS.

That's odd... so how come some ppl in this thread are saying they can do it and some can't? My netbook with, what i assume is basic BT, can skip tracks as well as volume (no text display though). Does 3G vs 3GS have something to do with it?

It's a function of the Bluetooth stack that is being used by the OS. The iOS is using an older version of AVRCP stack. Your netbook is most likely running the latest especially if it's win7. Lots of discussions about this over on Apples forums.

Sorry was a misunderstanding, that works with USB Jack.

When the 3GS is playing music through bluetooth you can use any of the normal voice control comands including artist, album, etc.. If it is hooked up by usb ipod voice control does not work.

Interesting. So if paired for BT music streaming, I can use voice controls to select, say, Dave Matthews. Will it then start playing the first Dave Matthews album, from first track to last, then proceed to next DM album, etc.?

Yes, just hold down the button until voice control comes up then say "Play artist Dave Matthews". The order depends on the order set up on your phone (mine goes alphabetical). If you have a specific album say "Play album Crash". Sometimes it gets confused but it will respond with "Playing album Crash", if it says the wrong thing try again.

Also the pandora app works well for internet radio. Bluetooth music doesn't sound as good as plugging it directly into the port, but my brother was really surprised at how good internet radio sounded through bluetooth.

The button, meaning the voice control button on the steering wheel, correct?

So you're using the iPhone's voice commands, but sending them through the Prius' sound system?

wow, that is interesting. It might be more useful than skip track... since presumably, you can tell the iPod to go to the "Next Track" via voice commands.

Ahhh ok. Yeah my netbook is running Win 7... starter version though... if that matters. Well austingreen said that the voice command works so it might not be so bad after all.

This is my experience also. I love BT Streaming for podcasts and audio books but if I am listening to music it sounds much better through the line out jack (30 pin connector).

austingreen doesn't seem to have answered you. I believe the answers are "no" (it's the Home button on the iPhone) and "maybe" (for some users, the car's speakers carry the call after the voice connection is established).

I would have expected it to be possible to make the car's sound system simulate a BT headset, with the steering wheel button starting Voice Control. Apparently not. It would have been easy.

Every time I try to initiate a call using the iPhone voice control, Bluetooth tries to route the call but immediately hangs up.

I am also having this problem. If anyone knows of the cause and/or a fix for this, I'd love to know.

Same issue with mine (I'll get a message the network disconnected) BUT I noticed that when I disconnect, the call then GOES THROUGH. It's as if the call is placed twice

When you disconnect the call goes through? Disconnect what? I get that message you get. I'd like to try what you're trying.
