    For clarification, CERT is what was measured, STD is the limit for the particular emissions bin that the car falls into.

    I thought STD emissions usually consisted of some sort of drip or discharge, often accompanied by a burning sensation.

    I face an interesting conundrum with my commercial fishing vessel. We run a 30 KW genset and the main propulsion engine (both diesel) when we are fishing the genset uses about as much fuel as the main.

    I'd like to use the main to drive a larger genset and have a 120 HP electric motor for my main propulsion. We must have AC voltage for lights. pumps, etc, etc. While fishing the main is just loafing at 3-5 knots. When running the load changes, no hydraullics, just lights and incidentals for the 110v power. A hybrid system makes a lot of sense, rather like a small scale cruise ship. Given the different loads a hybrid type of system makes a lot of sense.

    The issue today as a businessman is the payback period for the work to convert. I know I can have a much more efficient system, the cost is too high to amortize the payback.

    This shows the pattern:

    1.8L prius < 2.0L diesel < 2.0L gasser

    What doesn't make a lot of sense, yet, are the relative values. If we convert the data into formulas like:

    Prius = A(COd)+B(NOd)+C(NOwd) :: coefficients are ratio of Prius/diesel

    The scale for the Prius is much greater compared to the diesel as comparing the diesel to the gasser. I'll try to work up the numbers later.
