Reduced Load Carrying Capacity Sticker

    Picked up the car Tuesday - All I can say is...
    Amazing! Congrats to Toyota for the innovation and engineering.

    I did notice a yellow sticker above the drivers door striker, "Caution: Load Carrying Capacity Reduced. Modifications to this vehicle have reduced the original Load Carrying Capacity by 10 lbs (5 kg)."
    It also had a barcode and the VIN. Build date was 05/10.

    Anyone know where the 10 lbs. went?
    Nanoparticles?
    Vaporware?
    Dark Matter?

    Not a big deal, just curious.

    It has something to do with extra weight being added to the car, thereby reducing remaining load carrying capacity.

    It could could be port or dealer added options that added vehicle weight above the factory placard weight on the doorjamb. Or possible someplace else, I can't find the exact regulation in CFR 49 571.

    Mine has a yellow sticker for about the same amount.

    A similar thing came up in June.

    It was on a '09 Gen II with a 63 lb. load capacity reduction.

    Even tho' that is a lot of weight, there was no "closure" on
    what had been added.

    Mine has the exact same sticker. So far I have not seen anything that indicates what the reason is for the reduction of load capacity.

    I wonder if it has something to do with the weight they were tested at for the EPA mpg ratings?

    Only options were factory floor and cargo mats, bumper applique, no dealer installed options. 18 miles when I got it, so sticker must have been installed by factory, distributor, or dealer.

    GVWR is 3980 lbs., passengers and cargo rated at 825 which is standard? Perhaps the GVWR is a baseline and the added options/packages are the reason for the sticker?

    A III, IV, or V sticker (if they have them) might offer some insight:)

    Curious - it was built fairly late in the model year and still required modification.

    A sunroof model sticker would be interesting, the sunroof adds something like 70 lbs.

    My May/2010 Gen3 Model II yellow sticker says 5kg 11 lbs.
    Only options were factory floor and cargo mats and blue tooth.

    My V/ATP came with Z1 package. The sticker says 5kg 11lbs.

    Stickers are similar but clearly the cars are not the same weight. Seems the GVWR is a bit fuzzy.

    Yep, printed on material harvested from black holes, it creates a gravitomagnetic field. Tailgate a semi and watch your MPG soar.:)

    My guess for where the 10 pounds went (at least in my 2010 V with Nav):
    1 - 5 floor mats
    2 - height adjusting mechanism in drivers seat
    3 - 2 front seat heaters
    4 - Nav console weighs more than alternative
    5 - the new car smell
