I have just removed the lower glove box in my Gen3 in order to replace the cabin filter. While taking out the glove box, the plastic hydraulic support on the right fell off from its side support. Now I am having problem trying to figure out where it suppose to go. Picture 1 is, I believe, where the hydraulic support goes on the side of the glove box. Picture 2 is the side of the compartment. I have a red circle in this picture but when I put the support back, it doesn't seem to be in the correction position as it will come off when I close the glove box.
Can someone help me by posting a picture of the correct installation?
Your help is very much appreciated.

Be careful! I broke my latches because the box went in incorrectly and I had to yank it out.

The dampener is fun. I ended up wedging some wood (between the slots) to help keep it on while assembling.
Also iirc the large end goes up.

Before removing the glove box, you're supposed to slide the damper off the glove box (see p. 449 of owners manual), and the damper stays attached to the car (not the glove box).

Slide the damper off the glove box, then insert the part you circled in red into the hole on the left of the damper assembly in your picture.

Yes, I did slide off the damper from the glove box but at the same time, the damper came off. Now I am not too sure where it was attached to before.
First, I am assuming I have the damper put back on the glove box without turning it upside down (as shown in my first picture).
Can you be specific to say, from the two pictures below, A goes to C or B goes to C?
I tried it both ways but it seems that when I close the glove box, the damper will come off from the C point.
    Thanks.

A should go attach to C. Put the box in and draw it up to the damper and attach.

    Thanks.
Just curious why there is the B on the damper if it is not being used?

Put it back, A to C as instructed.
    Thank you very much.

LOL...I did the very same thing the first time I took out my cabin air filter. This forum is a great resource!

    Happy Motoring,

Odd, when I replaced filter in my 2010 prius today, it had same issue. After multiple failed attempts I put glove box on without the “damper". When my wife asked, she informed me that this had not worked for years.

So I guess as long as it closes, no loss.
