I have a 2007 Prius Touring Edition and ready to lower the car. I've been going back and forth at forums and merchant sites and finding conflicting information on what is compatible. What springs have you guys used or know of that can be installed in a Touring Prius? Coilovers is out because of budget... Please help. I'm ready to buy the springs.

H&R springs work with the Touring. That is what I and Fingas use on our Tourings. H&R will not confirm this because they think the Touring is a station wagon. Nevertheless it works. After all it was made for the euro Prius which is essentially the US Touring. The drop is a nice raked stance 1.4"/0.7"

B&G springs also work with the Touring but they are less reputable and 1" drop all around (not raked).

Eibach springs will NOT work with the Touring. Their inner diameter bottom coil is too narrow for the Touring strut. I have called Eibachs R&D to confirm this.

I was in your position 5 months ago so I know your angst and frustration but trust the homework I've done. Good luck!

Nope. I've driven 8000 miles with my springs now, and have had 2 alignments. My camber has never been a problem.

However, on my most recent alignment my rear left toe was out of spec, which is not adjustable. However, I'm not worried. All I have to do is keep an eye on this, but I doubt it will need a custom alignment. I just gotta keep up with my tire rotations. :)

Hmmm. And I'm looking to LIFT the sagging rear of my non-touring '06. Any love there??

I appreciate your help. I just ordered the springs from tirerack.com. Looking forward to the drop. Thanks again macmaster05!

Absolutely! :) Show us pictures when you're done! :D

Hmmm....The best thing I could suggest is new OEM springs. Although I'm not sure if that's actually the cause of the sag. Springs should not sag very much. You might want to also look into new struts...that could be it too.

Yeah, so... mostly they sag because I overload. Unloaded, everything's great. But it is only unloaded when parked. Nothing is worn out or permanently "sagged" - I just want to keep the rear end level when I'm (over)loaded. I've added air springs to my other cars - impossible to do on the Prius, from what I can determine. :sigh:

Success!!! I'm so happy with the results. There was a little gap in the rear setup; as indicated in previous threads but no big deal. Here are some pics...

It took a little getting use to the tighter ride... Not bad... Worth the upgrade/drop... Now planning the Front Strut Tower Brace and Chassis Stiffening Plate install...

So how much did the drop end up costing you when all was said and done?

The springs were $230 from tirerack.com and a local mechanic installed it for $175. I kept the stock struts as my car had 40k miles on it and didn't want to put out more money for new struts yet.

What did you do to your rims? They look like Gunmetal finish.

So I have a 2007 as well, with the base wheels. The title says base/touring. Are there differences in the suspension between the 2 trim levels. I have the package 4 with the figs and stability control..

Doesn't seem to be any difference. My question was if the prius 2nd gen shared any suspension with any other vehicles.
