After reviewing all the helpful replies, I think this is the best solution. Thanks

Funny, but I agree and have discarded the thought. Fun trip through fantasy land though.

WOW! What a great little thread.

I too easily recall other threads where first time OPs suggested
souping up a Prius that turned into ugly wrestling in the mud.

I have no interest in hotting up the performance, but reading this
thread was a pleasure... and I even learned some cool stuff as well.

Thanks to the OP and posters.

My fantasy Prius 'go fast' mod would be a 200 volt electric roots supercharger running from the HV battery. It should run out of SOC in about 1/4 mile, but that would be enough!

Nothing like a cloud of smoke to let everyone know how much we care for the environment.

Do you remember the Honda CRX with two engines and two transaxles? Now that was a sleeper.

Remove all excess weight from the car - that makes it faster (it's basically what I did).

    There's a 10 or 11-second dual-engine Eagle Talon around Chicago.

Keep the G2 stock and buy a toy.
It doesn't have to be a 5-6 figure toy.....you can get a used bike cheaply...especially in this economy! Even my diminutive Vulcan is a hoot to (ride.)

In my never to be humbled opinion, trying to turn a Prius into a fire breathing, asphalt smoking monster is just wrong on a lot of levels. In the first place, it can't be done...at least not cheaply. Secondly, it would be a repudiation of the G2's primary purpose. It would be like putting '33's on it and trying to do the stump jumping thing, or mounting an HSD plant into a Corvette.
    Just wrong.

Of course this is just my 2 centavo's worth, and I respect the Pinto Chick's idea of grafting a proper drive train onto a Prius body for the shock value of being able to turn 10's with a Prius body------but at the end of the day, you'd be driving a Camaro in drag.

On the other hand.....you're in your seventh decade, so you don't need any punk kid in his late fourties telling you how to roll.....now do you?
    Whatever you decide, good luck!

Camry hybrid have a 2.4 ltr 148 hp Atkinson cycle engine and 650 volt 141 hp electric drive unit using a CVT transmission. Total output is said to be 188hp, and it actually out accelerates its gas engine equivalent.

Someone did manage to fit a turbocharger on a first gen prius improving both acceleration and gas mileage. Since you have this need for speed, you should obviously one up this by putting in both a turbocharger and an e85 conversion (higher octane of e85 will allow more aggressive compression). Then publish a detailed how to with pictures along with the resultant mpg change and acceleration. Since you have a GenII not I, this will be completely uncharted territory but I'm curious about the results. Theoretically an aggressively turbocharged e85 prius should operate at a significantly better thermodynamic efficiency than the old gas versions.
