So can a car that uses the urea injection method be more stable on higher concentrations of bio diesel?

From the vw document, its about the car cleaning the dpf. The inexpensive method is to inject fuel after combustion and burn the particles leaving only ash. Biodiesels vaporization temperature means some will get into the engine oil, and that's the problem. One solution is a special injector.

Urea is for SCR, to remove NOx. That part of it is fine with biodiesel.

The 2012 Audi A-3 TDI only allows 5% biodiesel--and tells you not to use fuel with a greater amount of bio.
My wife and I noticed driving around Germany that it was often hard to find stations that did not say their fuel contained 7% or more biodiesel. Our car just arrived back in the US, and we are wondering if this will be a problem here. It wasn't for our first fill-up, but that's not much of a representative sample.

My understanding USA has a B20 standard, and you have to go to special pumps at certain stations for this. The normal ultra low sulfur diesel for cars has no bio in USA.

So we have two diesel streams:
    • ultra low sulfur?
    • bio-diesels?

...that's my understanding, but let's see if anyone differs. It is getting simpler because we used to have on-road (ULSD) diesel and until 2010 we had off-road diesel (low sulfur diesel - 500 ppm S). Believe most of the off-road is going to ULSD now.

And we also have home heating oil for the Northeast homes still stuck on oil heat. The home heating oil is aslo diesel, not sure sulfur spec.

    So where does kerosene stand?

The reason I ask is I remember past diesel owners (aka., 1970s) being so happy they could run on kerosene.

...well jet fuel(kero) is still a sulfur containing fuel. If you include kero in ULSD it must be treated to remove sulfur. Why were they happy to run kero?

In cold climates, kero was blended with diesel so the fuel wouldn't gel. It's not a good idea to run straight diesel because it lacks lubricity.
