Stuck CDs - Can Nav Settings Be Transferred?

The CDs in our 2011 Model 5 (with ATP) are stuck and can't be ejected. According to the repair manual the Nav unit will need to be replaced. This raises two questions:

1. Can the CDs in there (a book on CD from the library - which are due tomorrow) be recovered by the dealer?
2. IF the Nav unit needs to be replaced, does the dealer have some mechanism to move the settings (address book, which has some 50+ destinations) + phone numbers associated with the Bluetooth phone).

This car is turning out to be a lemon. First the DRCC sees phantom vehicles and freezes (which Toyota will not do anything about), and now this!

 

Yes, LEMON CITY!!! Dealer wants $465 to remove the CDs. (Another $900 if it needs to be replaced.) Not covered by warranty because the dealer believes that the CDs from the library have an adhesive label!!

What manufacturer designs a car entertainment system that removing stuck CDs cost $465!!!

Doing without CDs (transferring future CDs to USB drive)!! Looking for early sale of this LEMON!! (Become ZERO Prius family).

 

Update: I found that I could easily remove CDs (NO cost) by disconnecting power (pull fuse) for a few minutes. Apparently the player logic "thought" CDs were jammed and acted accordingly. Pulling the power causes the CD player logic to forget that there is a problem and allows normal operation to resume.

Also, no problem with the CD labels! Turns out to be a convenient excuse to avoid warranty work.

This simple (pulling the power) trick must be known. It appears that the dealer (Hoselton Toyota in East Rochester, NY) is much more interested in enhancing revenue (as "Click & Clack" would say - "make a boat payment") then solving customer problems.

I have written a letter to Toyota - but am holding off sending it, giving the SM a chance to respond.

I don't know why I hadn't thought of the power reset earlier (I use that tactic all them time with AC powered electronic stuff). I was prepared to remove the CD Player/Nav unit and open it up (if I could) to retrieve the library CDs. Step 1 in the factory procedure is to disconnect the 12v - so I decided to try connecting the 12v back up and try.
