Gas is running $4.60 to $5.21 per gallon in my town. Glad to be driving a Prius C! Oh Yes.

Glad you are feeling that happy Prius C glow as well. For those of us who are new to the hybrid family, it is unexpectedly delightful.

Wow cwerdna, you really roam the ENTIRE forum widely. Most of us C OWNERS tend to hang out here in C country so we're not feeling quite so inundated with fuel price threads. I find it "interesting" that most of the negative comments in the C forum come from people who don't have a C.

Archeo, I hear ya on the California situation! I bet you're glad to have your C in hand right now since getting one might be a bit more challenging in CA with the gas prices "fueling" demand.

That is why a lot of c and v owners ask redundant questions that have already been answered years ago and ad nauseam in other forums. When I am trying to find answers to a question I use the search function and look to similar vehicles and their forums. It seems rather silly not to perform such a search. :)

Thankfully there are enthusiasts like Andrew who are interested in all models of Prii and who venture into other forums to help answer questions.

The last time we had those fuel prices rise we looked for a used Prius and discovered that the minimum price for a used liftback was in the $30,000 range. So we passed at that time. FSBO and dealers were raising prices to meet demand at that time. Don't know if that is happening now or not?

Yup, I get that...and I try to search when I have technical kinds of questions. I appreciate the expertise of the long-time Prii owners but it's not always necessary to stomp on the enthusiasm of the "young" (by which I mean new Hybrid owners of a new model Prius). We also have a troll-like member of the general Prius group that likes to visit and share his negativity here so I have to admit that my hackles went up this morning when it appeared that once again a senior member felt compelled to "school" the C forum.

It may be that slightly different forum cultures will develop for the C and V versions....if the liftback owners can resist trying to reshape us.

I think I know who you are talking about. As for Andrew, he is a very nice guy and helpful. The other is not a senior member nor is he very nice.

Have a great Monday, Tracy. :)

Thanks F8L! (and I will remember that with Andrew)

Bringing this back around on topic.....while gas prices here in Washington aren't as high as California, they ARE climbing. Yesterday I ran errands including Home Depot, then grabbed some tacos from a place next to them and was sitting in my C in the parking lot eating. A guy walked up and started asking me questions about the C. He and his wife were exploring options for a fuel efficient car and he's definitely been doing some online research because he asked me questions about things that I've seen come up many times in the C reviews. So....I shared info and finally he said, "OK, what kind of gas mileage do you REALLY get?" Me: "I average between 50 and 60 for each tank." He just kind of stood there and was like REALLY?! That's REAL WORLD mpg? YUP. He went back to his truck and I could hear he and his wife talking about it.

I think we'll have another member of the C family soon. Not sure if I convinced him that habanero is the right color though ;-)

Hey, I see that Jerry Brown has stepped in and just authorized the release of the winter mix fuel in CA (ahead of the normal 11/1 release) to take the pressure off gas prices (apparently refineries are no longer making the summer mix and with the loss of the refinery there in the Golden State, this is a the problem with the crunch right now - no summer mix to bring in....y'all probably already knew that ;)). Hopefully that will bring things back down by the end of the week!

ETA: And we're best not saying that person's name or engaging with him because - ever the troll, engagement just fuels his nastiness.

I just click on What's New and also look at my Alerts. I look at threads in most areas, not just the Gen 2 area (which is what I have). I've been following Priuses since a bit before I got my Gen 2 in January 06.

It normally doesn't bother me a lot when there are new threads created, but when I see a whole bunch about the same subject within a few days, it does irk me a bit. Unfortunately, it seems this new software doesn't auto-search and auto-suggest old threads when starting a new one.

That feature helped cut down on the number of unnecessary new threads started. But, it also led to thread resurrection. Sometimes a thread that hadn't been active for 2-5 years suddenly comes to life, and sometimes for the wrong reasons (e.g. newbie raises an entirely unrelated issue in the previously dead thread).

Over on MyNissanLeaf.com, some of the moderators really dislike new threads. This is probably why there's a 147 page long Volt thread (My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Official GM Volt Plug-In Hybrid Thread) and a 50 page long Tesla Model S thread (My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Tesla Model S).

I've seen the moderators here sometimes lock unnecessary/duplicate threads, esp. after the other thread has been pointed out to them.
Thanks F8L! Yes, I think we're thinking of the same person.... He's the only one on my ignore list.

Andrew, I wonder why they dropped that feature - that would be really good. I just go right to the C forum - not enough time to be cruising everything new. Plus, there's a regular group that posts here so I feel a sense of "community" with the other C owners, especially as we learn about the features and foibles of being fairly early adopters of a new model :)

I don't know about whether the feature was dropped. Danny switched from vBulletin to this new software, XenForo. It may either be turned off in XenForo or just not implemented.

Besides issues w/some posts that got migrated over (e.g. lost 1st posts in a thread in some cases, broken images, link problems, etc.), my opinion is mixed about this new software. Except for the tag.contextweb.com intermittent problems (causing slow pages loads), this software seems much faster and seems to have fewer perf problems. I'd love to go back to vBulletin if the perf probs we had before could be fixed. However, it sounds unlikely Danny's going to switch back. :/

Crazy, California gas prices are now in some places higher than British Columbia!

I'm driving down to Seattle next weekend. According to GasBuddy, the cheapest prices en route are in Everett. So I guess I'll top up in Blaine with the minimum I need to get there, and then fill up in Everett.

Haven't had anyone ask that question yet. Great to ask owners for the real info though. Actually the Habanero looks fantastic with the black softex interior. Japan has an interesting bright yellow color that we don't have here and actually looks good as well.

Thanks for the support everyone, not all of us ready every single thread out there on all hybrid vehicles at all times and those of us brand new to the forum (have had my C one month) appreciate positive, helpful info not just some fool wishing to bash the enthusiasm of others. The most negative remarks I have seen on this forum appears to come from people who don't drive nor own a Prius C. So basically, their remarks lack evidence and defy logic. Funny!

Black wasn't an option for me since I stayed with a C3 (I splurged on the moonroof and figured I better stop there on the $$ front). I looked all over for a C "in the wild" before making my purchase because I wanted to ask some of those questions. I glimpsed one C one time on the road but could never find one holding still ;) So....kinda nice to help someone else out with info.

I've seen the photos of the yellow Aqua in Japan but....we have a bajillion (well, it seems like it) yellow Prii taxis in the area here so I wouldn't go for yellow. In fact, we have an Orange Taxi service too but fortunately, they haven't gone the Prius route yet. Purple would be interesting as a color choice - the new Fit (if I'm remembering correctly) has a nice purple color now in the line-up.
