Thanks SDTundra. So is this a spray on, or you dip it in a can? Did you pull the emblems off, and if so, where did you get the adhesive to reapply them?

 

Spray on. Leave the emblems on. Mask the area, and remove overspray.

Much easier if you DON'T remove the emblems.

I removed (and didn't put back) some of my emblems. Blackened the rest in place. It took longer to remove and clean up, than it did to blacken. And I ruined the HSD badge in the process.

 

it's hard to remove the overspray if you don't remove the emblems, and also, sometimes the plasti-dip peels off when you are doing the letters.

For all the badges, what you do is use a heat gun to heat up the badge, than use badminton string or fishing string and push it from the edges, the badges will come off very easily.

Than use goo-gone to remove the double side tape residue, plasti dip the badges and add new double side tape to the badges.

This way, you will get perfect blacked out emblems and badges

 

Yeah, I did not remove the HSD one and you can tell it didnt come out perfect. The PRIUS badge was removed and I used automotive trim adhesive to reapply it. When you do it just make sure you apply a thin first coat and dont hold the can too close or in one spot for a long period as it will run...

 

I had no troubles removing the overspray. A toothpick got in all the narrow crevices, and it peeled back from the background with no troubles. Less than 3 minutes per badge gave me perfect black emblems. Newspaper and painter's tape is all I used.

How do you like the Tein sprints, and can you give details ?

 

Tein springs are nice....at first I didnt really notice a huge difference in ride height but after parking next to an identical car you can tell the drop. The ride wasn't rougher at Toyota's recommended pressure before and after the install and my dad borrowed the car for a trip to SF in June and didnt even realize the car was lowered until 3 days ago when I told him.

The ride did get rougher recently as I inflated the tires to 44/42 but its still bearable.

No MPG difference detected, still getting above 48 driving it like a normal car and 53+ trying basic techniques.

Looks good.... I am looking for a soft spring, after the 17s and 38/36 psi the ride is not as smooth.... looking to get the smoothness back.. ideas ?

 

Well, the ride is going to be rougher with 17's due to decreased tire sidewall. Try lowering the pressure a bit to 35/33 and see what happens. Unfortunately higher MPG doesnt always equal high comfort.

You may try airbags but that will be expensive...($3999 just for the bolt on kit no install) or go custom.

 

The TRD springs are pretty soft and don't drop the car too much.

 

Can't go wrong with the Trds

The ride is abit bumpy which is normal.

If you want a more comfortable ride you should get the Michelin mxm4 tires

 

Painted my Hubcaps semi Gloss Black $6.00 in paint to match the window tint. Looks better then stock.

Or the Ecopia EP422 if you want a really comfortable ride and don't mind a softer handling tire. These things are kinda crazy.

 

This may be a dumb question but which Tein spring are on your car? H-tech? S-Tech? I love he way it looks!!!!

 

His car does look sweet even with the OE wheels!
