Bzyrice's Prius Plug In Progress Thread! (Traded in first Prius)

Hello All!!

I decided to trade in my 2011 Prius III Navi, JBL, Sun Roof, Solar Roof in Ribbon Blue Pearl for a 2012 Prius Plug In Base in Blizzard Pearl!! I had to drive all the way to Maryland from Florida to get the car.
The incentives were insane! Got 0% financing, 3500.00 off the Dealer price of the car AND geting a 2500.00 Tax Refund! It was a no brainer! Luckily I had already been planning a trip to NYC for my Wife's birthday. so I had my Bro in Law to drive the car to NY .. He has a daughter there so it actually worked out for him as well.
Only problem was that I was scheduled to pick up the car on 10/29/12. If you all remember.. that is when the Hurricane hit the North East and literally CLOSED NYC down!! We left NYC the night before right before they closed the bridges at 7pm. We got a hotel in MD and stayed the night. The next morning went to go pick up the car.. IN THE MIDDLE OF A HURRICANE!! the dealership was crazy and was open until noon. Just enough time for me to do my paperwork, get the car, and transfer over a few mods (Carmate Cup Holder, Weathertech Floormats, OEM Trunk Tray, sunshade, Carmate Wide Mirror). Drove the car home through the hurricane! It was the craziest car buying experience ever...BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!

Here is a side by side pic of the old car meeting the new car. Left a bunch of parts I wouldn't need on the old car (Taillight Film, Tien Htechs, OEM Fogs with 4300K Hids, Window Visors, Tint)! Hope who ever gets it appreciates the aftermarket parts!

As we were driving home THROUGH THE HURRICANE.. My Bro in law and friend wake me up and this is what I see!!! (they were just kidding, but it freaked me out when I first opened my eyes!!) haha

Here is the first pic I was able to take of the new car!!

A few weeks after I bought it my wife was at the grocery store and this was the result?!


NO NOTE WAS LEFT!! So this is what I did:

I jumped on that shiznits til it popped out. lol

When I took the bumper off.. I noticed the ugly oem muffler.. so I got a can of this in my garage:


and took care of that. Looked much better!

Then I went to the font of the car. Since we dont need this in Florida This got removed! Anyone want it?! Ill sell it dirt cheap!! haha

When I took it off I had these nasty holes.. cleaned the holes up with a nice razor blade..

So I got these and put them in.. Alot better!


A few weeks later I decided to get my taillights wrapped again (had this done on my 2011 prius). This time in Red and light tint. Purchased them from Bluebatmobile again because he makes and sells great products! Had a local tint shop install this AND tint my third brake light AND my Front Turn Signals.

Found a stock prius for comparison.. SOO MUCH BETTER IMO!!

Got some "JDM" Visors a few weeks later with some tint.. Quality is so so.. but I will keep them on..

Worked on Suspension Next...
Used Tanabe Center Brace installed.. already scraped up from previous owner lol

Then installed some Tanabe Sustec Coilovers all around!

Here is my car all in pieces lol:

Destroyed my favorite ratchet trying to get one of the suspension bolts off..

Prius Plug in lowered!! oh also decided to remove the ugly useless rear windshield wiper! lol



Had wheels sitting in the garage from my old prius so guess what! They went right on after the TPMS sensors were transferred over! MUCH BETTER!!

Decided I wanted to put on a few more things .. installed a set of FIAMM Horns.. I suggest every prius owner put these in!! OEM on left.. FIAMM on the Right.. Now the car doesnt sound so girly anymore lol

Then these bad boys went on! JDM Headlights and 5000k Hids!


Put some chrome door handles to match the chrome accented front bumper on the Prius Plug In.. Really hated how Toyota decided non color matching pieces would be cool on the Prius Plug In..

Also put the Clazzio pleather seats I had specially orderd from Japan.. black with white stitching.. took soo long to get that I never installed it into my Blue Ribbon prius..

Installed OGS Shifter.. OGS is in Blue.. Reverse is in Red.. and all other buttons are in White..


Met up with el-nino!! First EVER Priuschat member I have ever met in Real Life and sold him my old PIP wheels! Looks great on his car! His car looks soo nice in person.. made me want to mod more haha

He had Valenti's on his car.. and I just have the taillight film.. here are some comparison shots.. he said that my taillights looked like they were made like that =)



Installed some 3M carbon Fiber on the Grill Very subtle mod! No one notices unless they really look up close..

I also installed the JDM Side mirrors, but have not taken any good pics of them yet.. I will post pics of the interior and those side mirrors by tomorrow. As you can see Ive been pretty busy with mods.. just never had time to organize the pics and make a thread!

I hope this was inspiring! lol It only took me about 10 hours to install all these mods!

 

Now that I have the blizzard pearl PIP I get waaay better gas mileage.. so of course that is a plus.. also got a few features I didnt have before.. DRL..Heated Seats. I did lose sunroof and the Solar Roof.. thats kind of a bummer.. but all in all I am happy!

no problem!! Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions .. Pretty easy IMO.. The way the back panels comes off is a little bit different in a 2012 from what I recall

Tanabe coilovers are great!! Got them used so didn't spend a fortune..

Ride is definitely more firm than stock.. My wife drives the car mostly with the baby and she doesn't mind the ride.. It's not bad at all..

I haven't dropped it all the way down yet.. But it can get pretty low from the looks of it.. I got another inch or so more to drop ..

Oh yah also got one of these to hold the coins in the car. This thing is cool because it can hold pennies too!

 

Yes these are the ones from eBay.. Tinted by my tint shop.. Had them tint them before even putting them on the car. They use some different film for outside.. Cost me 10.00 lol
