    HEY PRIUS CHAT FOLKS !!!

    The latest mod for HBII happened on Friday May 31 !!!

    REAR FENDERS ROLLED !!!!

    With the Air Runner Air Suspension and the SSR 19x9 SP3's, I wanted to have a little more clearance in the Rear Fenderwells. Highly recommended to do the task was Shane ... The owner of All Out Dent (www.ALLOUTDENT.com) !!! Shane handles Fender Rolling, as well as many other great services such as : Ding / Dent removal, Bumper Repair, Bolt-On Installs, Headlight Restoration, etc.

    Shane's work is nothing less than the best, he has worked on many Import, Domestic, and Exotic cars !!!

    Here are my pix taken that afternoon ...

    HBII's Rear Fender Before

    (Notice the Brown discoloring from the heat of the tires. This happens when the vehicle is fully aired out at a show and the heat from the tires transfers to the fender lip after the vehicle has been in motion.) This Fender lip section is what is "Rolled" during this process. By Rolling this Lip rather than cutting it, this maintains the Strength and Rigidity of this area.

    Procedure

    Using various tools specifically for the job, heat gun, fender roller, etc., I left this up to Shane !!!

    And the Rolled Rear Fenders were Complete !!!

    Shane spent some time on the Fender Rolling to achieve a nice uniform result. No more lip !!!

    When I returned home I wanted to go a step further by Matte Black painting the Inner part of the Five Axis Lip Kit which faced the Inside Fenders to match the thickness of the newly done Fender Rolling. This produces a nice uniform touch since the bolts in these locations were both black and silver !!!

    I had used Primer Paint to prep the surface, and used an Anti-Rust Matte Black Paint made specifically for metal. I chose Flat Black to match the inside of the Fender Well.

    Rears Complete !!!

    It was time to do the Front Fenderwells ... These did Not need to be Rolled, only Primered and Painted !!!

    After Matte Black Painting ... the Front Fenderwells were Complete !!!

    Then ALL was Complete !!!

    The Result produced a Cleaner Appearance matching the thickness of the new Rolled Fenders ...

    hey Rodney this is the sickest Prii i have seen. good job and keep up the good work. thanks for inspiring us with a great build and like you said it can be done. Plus we all have different personalities and that is what makes our cars be our personality

    Hi Rodney,

    I see Shane working on rolling your fenders up to the point where the bumper starts. So, about the first 120 degrees. Was there any part of the bumper rolled? If so, how did he go about it? Were any of the bolts relocated?

    Hello Swaggingprius !!!

    In regards to the Fender Rolling, no parts of the bumper were rolled.

    This area didn't have any rubbing issues that needed Rolling. The plastic material that comprises the bumper would have also melted with the heat gun and may have been deformed with the Fender Rolling tool.

    None of the bolts needed relocation.

    You can simply get them from your Toyota/Lexus dealer as they are off a Lexus LS200h, or from here http://bit.ly/15IYrbp

    As the Lexus engine bay is a slightly different shape the inverter cover doesn't fit we'll towards the front so the best way is to remove the plastic section that covers the radiator and shave off the underside where the lip is and then this cover can tuck under nicely and clip in perfectly.     Hey, what happened to your trademarked "I am very satisfied/pleased with this mod" comment? I don't think you've ever met a mod you weren't satisfied with ;)

    Speaking of which, I got the blue whale tail license plate because I dislike how white license plates stick out on black cars.

    It doesn't. It is rated with the same drag coefficient as the rest of the car. Now, the 5axis is for the 2010-2011 models only. The front bumper changed 2012

    thanks for posting this! I just got my roof done and used these instructions to take off the rear antenna and rear windshield nozzle!!
