I just installed a Donnelly self dimming mirror with the following lessons. The panel in front of the sun glass holder, just pulls off, as does the map light panel. Forget about using the existing wires for the map lights, since I could not find any that went off when the car was off. It was easy to run a new power line under the upper panel, then down the side, into the area where I tied it into the power plug which has its own fuse, 15 amp, and goes off and on with the car.

Did you get your mirror installed? Did you need a camlock adapter or some other plate? Or did you have to glue it?

    Thanks

    HELP!
I think I got a little overzealous with this DIY.
I purchased an Auto Dimming with Homelink mirror through Ebay (it supposedly came from a 2012 Toyota Prius) for my 2013 Prius Two. The mirror didn't come with a wire harness/pigtail wire. I order one from ebay, however the one I received doesn't fit the pin connector on the gentex mirror I purchased. I did however shaved the sides off and the ten pin connector finally fit into the mirror. Through trial and error, I T-tapped the wires from the harness to pin connectors in the car for the outside mirrors and map lights. I was successful in making sure the mirror's LED left light turns on when the car turns off or when I click on the OFF circle button on the mirror, however when I press the homelink buttons, nothing happens, nothing blinks. The setup calls for holding both ends of the homelink buttons for 20 seconds to reset the programming but nothing.

I would really greatly appreciate any help or assistance.

If anyone can help, I drew a diagram on my setup attached, hopefully it's simple to understand.

    Best,

    Greg B.

The overhead console has large plastic plugs that fit in receivers in the roof, it just snaps in place. Just give it a good yank and it will come out and hopefully nothing will break. I took mine out with no problem, it made a loud snap when it came out but it was fine! Good luck!

don't pull too hard or you'll pull the metal brace that it snaps into from the glued position against the roof skin. Yeah, don't ask how I know.

Yikes! I never saw that as a possibility, guess I was lucky when I did mine....(whew)

In my day I worked on tons of MGB's! Ask me how I know :D Not a fan of the MG-C though!

    Cheers,

Luckily, a good blob of silicon, with a stick wedged to press it tight left overnight has cured it for well over 2 year,s now.

Never touched an MGC, but I'm sure I'd love it.
