Need some suggestions for fog lights

    I can't see the fogs until I turn them off and back on again... you don't realize how much they help until you don't have them

    I agree with you ztanos, they have there advantages. I see the difference with and without. It's barely noticeable. I'll take pics. But I want the yellow from the fogs to be thrown at least a solid 4-5 feet in front of the car.(obviously to light up the ground, so I have a solid yellow spot in front of the car, so it doesn't effect distance vision as much. To much foreground light will reduce distance visibility.)

    Just be careful you don't point them too high or you will start blinding folks.

    Haha, yeah, I'll aim from 10, 20, 35, and 50 feet away to make sure I wont be blinding people. That's the last thing I want to do.

    Got the H11 HID kit installed in the fogs, I have yellow vinyl covering the fogs. I'll try to get a video of them turning on, they are initially green when they are warming up. But there is a lot more yellow on the ground. I'll probably end up trying to retrofit the halogen projectors in there for better lighting and aiming. Sorry for the quality of pictures. Had to use a phone for pics.

    To sum up your fog light set up, they are OEM assemblies, 4300k 55W H11 HIDs, with yellow vinyl tinting? The output is quite impressive compared to the stock halogens I have (which I can't see from my seat at all).

    Also, has anyone ever tried 55W 6000k bulbs? They say the colors are a bit washed out due to the brightness, so it will be a bit less blue and more cool white? I only want a tinge of blue output but I still want it bright.

    I have the 55w 6ks. They look white while driving down the road... but when they reflect off anything, you can tell the "blueness".

    I use a 35w kit for the fogs. The original bulbs down there were only 19w. So I wouldn't put a 55w hid kit in the fogs.

    Oh, I was going off of ztanos' post on the first page, where H11 are 55w. So does that mean H11 can be either 35w or 55w??

    Finally swapped my 35w H16 6000k HIDs into my fogs! Also put 3 layers of yellow vinyl on it.

    When I was testing the lights before putting everything back, the fog housing seemed kind of hot after running the HIDs for only about 2 minutes. The lens itself was hot to the touch ( more than warm). Is this the case for you guys too? I'm worried the plastic OEM housings will melt at this rate. Just going this is normal and I didn't do something wrong.

    It's no wonder they're hot because of three layers of vinyl acting as insulation and holding in the heat that would normally radiate through the glass lens.

    Why didn't you get the 3k yellow HIDs if you wanted yellow output?

    The lens are plastic. And the earlier posts point to why I wanted to use vinyl as opposed to a yellow bulb. For the record, I wanted a lime tint at the reflector housing while giving out a yellow output on the streets. I have the color I want and everything is running. Just wanted to know if the housing can handle the heat produced

    i think youll be fine. i dont think they will get that hot if you keep driving. but if you just leave them on for like 20 mins standing, then it might be a problem

    Your tint is going to show burn discoloration before you lenses will. Just keep an eye on them. Mine are warm, but not hot... not much warmer than the stock bulbs though.

    Would drilling a hole in the fogs housing be a way to keep them cooler and help dissipate heat out of the housing?

    Also, pictures please of the finished fogs, lights on and off.
