I will definitely not be drilling any holes into the fog housings. Don't want any moisture getting in there whatsoever.

So it's been my first day running the fogs. Due to the heat, every little bubble that happened to be trapped in there (which was none to my naked eye) began to expand under heat. Now it's kind of "splotchy" from the bubbles expanding. I've tried to poke holes with a needle into the vinyl to allow the bubbles to clear up.

Regarding the heat issue, I tried to gently touch the lens during and after the bulb has been running. I would still describe the lens as "hot to the touch" during operation. However, a mere 10 seconds after the lights are shut off, the lens are moderately warm at most. This leads me to believe that the vinyl aren't acting as insulation since the heat can dissipate so fast when shut off.

As for pics, I'll post em up tomorrow when my phone decides to work again. It's going on strike since I'm paying more attention to my car than it lately. Jealousy is so silly

Glad to hear the heat isn't a big big issue. Looking forward to your pics man.

There it is! I'll try to get better close ups if you guys care for them. I can't get any beam pattern shots right now, but I'll try tomorrow night maybe. BTW, I have a C3 and added the C4 stalk. Can I still run the fogs independently of the low beams? Doesn't seem like it's possible.

You might also notice my low beams are back to halogens :(. Just swapped them over from the fogs, which are only 19W and definitely not even comparable to the HIDs that were in them before.

Nice man, good job. What happened to the hids in the headlight? (If you don't mind me asking)

So you only have 1 set of HIDs?

At the moment yes. I'll be putting my stock halogens back in today so I can get some decent low beam output until I can afford another set of HIDs. Likely will be going with 6000k 55w from ddm

Just as an update, I've been running this set up with little issues. Only issue is the "splotchiness" from the air bubble forming behind the lens under heat. Otherwise, nothing is melting or burning and output/color is beautiful.

Regarding my future purchase of bulbs for the headlights, I noticed DDM carries H11 55W 5000K kits. Haven't heard much about people using 5000K color, and I'd really prefer a bit less blue than the 6000K color. Any opinions about it?

5k will give you a much more white color compared to your 6k... as long as you use the same ballasts. Different ballasts will have different results, even with the exact same bulb.

The 55 W DDM will drive the bulbs up one notch like from 5000K to 6000K. I know this because I have two sets of HID: 35W XenonSupply and 55W DDM. I did a test by using the same 4300K bulbs and use both ballasts on left and right: the 55W DDM is whiter.

A bit confused by this. So If I get a set of 5000K 55W from DDM, they will look like 6000K? Not sure what you meant, but I was also thinking about what DDM posted about 55W kits in general: the color will look more washed out (more white) due to the higher output. In other words, a 6000K 55W kit might look closer to a 5000K 35W kit. Is that what you meant?

im not sure what that poster was trying to say.

i have used ddm kits both 35 and 55w. on my motorcycle i was running 35w 6k. which was a good amount of blue, and i didnt like it. so instead of just buying bulbs i just bought a new 55w hid kit from ddm. i left the 6k bulbs in the bike and changed the ballasts from 35 to 55. and the blue was less blue and now more white light!

so when you go from 35 to 55 with the same bulbs, they will turn out to be more whiter.

What I meant is it will be whiter from 4300 bulbs I have, close to 5000K I guess.

I don't have other bulbs, only 4300K/4500K, so I don't know how much blue in 6000K. And I've read 4300K will give out the most light output.

55w will be a slight bit more to the right on the color spectrum than the 35w.

I've done a bit of reading over at hid planet. At the moment I might go with 55w 4500k. Apparently they start out slightly yellow (like natural sun light), and start to become more white as they wear out from use.
