Thanks. I think I may go for a look that is more similar to the current Lexus caps. Would you happen to know if the holes are 2.25" wide?

    Nope.

I would love a set of those wheels for my 09 Corolla. :)

Thanks Sean. I'll look into those.

Here's a quick idea of the MPG in case anyone is wondering.

CT200H with Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires (9/32" tread depth)
    35 psi all-around.
    Ambient Temps: 70-75F.
    A/C at Auto and 70F.
Speed: 70-75 mph, cruise control whenever possible.
Trip: Gilroy, CA to Pleasanton, CA fairgrounds.

    Trip MPG: 46.0 mpg.

If this trip had been made with the 15" Energy Saver A/S, I would have expected 50-51 mpg.

Are you on stock suspension? How does the car drive stock rims vs 17's?

Yes, stock suspension. The front struts have about 70k on them and are fairly worn, so some of the bounciness is probably due to the struts. The straight line stability and traction are much improved. Ride comfort is probably 30% worse.

Must say I like f8l's tire size the best if car isn't lowered... It really fits the wheel well...

On that note i know 50's are rated .5 inch taller that then 45's... It may be a dumb question but does this raise vehicle by .5 of an inch or does the side wall or suspension play a factor in actual height?

I would really advise against the 205/50-17 size as most professional tire shops will refuse to touch the vehicle due to the incorrect tire fitment. The 215/45-17 size already presents enough problems once the shop realizes that your car is not a Prius 5, but they may let it slide.

Some places like Costco may have a policy that they will only install tires that are OEM sizes but other places like Discount Tire Centers (at least in my area) couldn't care less and will do whatever you wish.

Our Costco wouldn't even install a tire size that was an option on a higher trim level for our model when I installed 17 inch rims on our vehicle that came with stock 16 inch wheels. They said they only install tire size that the vehicle comes with from the factory.

Same here, and from a liability standpoint, that is a very poor policy.

I'm already set on that tire size... Also have read other people's post that went with the 45's then wished they got the 50's... Regardless I'm now curious if actual vehicle raises half an inch? Or does the tire just fill in gap?

Can't use common since to figure this one out

Both, the car will be raised 0.25 inch and the tire will fill the gap by 0.25 inch.

As long as the tire diameter is around the same it's stupid that places like Costco won't install a better tire size than OEM. A 205/50R17 is a little narrower for better mpg then the 215/45R17 but is the same diameter as the 195/65R15 size to make the speedometer more accurate. It just goes to show that the guys at Discount Tire/America's Tire know a lot more about wheels & tires.

Just because Costco has a policy for liability reasons does not mean Discount Tire Centers know more about wheels and tires than Costco, but I am not a fan of either places.

Costco has made a policy that makes no sense because it was made by management that has zero clue about cars, tires & what is the proper fit. How can there be any liability when a 195/65R15 & 205/50R17 have the same diameter and the Prius come with both wheel sizes. This is why DTC knows so much more because even upper management understands cars, tires & wheels unlike the same people at Costco.

It's most likely about risk management rather than knowledge. It's called CYA. ;)

Yep, Costco is a big business. There was a stupid class action lawsuit against them for not adjusting gas volume for temperature

Lol, Costco is already selling their gas at low margins, or maybe even at a slight loss, and ppl want to bring up a dumb class action lawsuit?

I'm sure the lawyers were drooling all over that one because they're the only ones who would get a lot out of a class action lawsuit.
